Thanks everyone :) Here is a funny hand: The payout increased at 60th place by about $700. There are 62 people left and the blinds were 2k, 4k. I had 6600 in chips. The big blind comes and someone raises it so I fold. Small blind comes and Im in for 2k leaving me 600 chips if I fold. There is tons of action on my table, raises, reraises etc. Normally I would call just for the pot odds, there is a small chance in hell I could double up and maybe make it the next round. I have K4 offsuit and I fold. The railbirds start fighting immediately about how that is a proper/improper fold. Im left with 600 chips and a few people are eliminated from the tourney and I make another $700 bucks, wooo hooo :)

smart move imho :)

I'm currently playing the Ladbrokes 70k tourny.

On the same table as "actionjack" , a top pro.

Interesting watching how he plays

This is another one of those "I have absolutely no idea what you people are talking about but gosh it's fun to read!" threads! :D

My husband watches poker tournaments on television (and pool tournaments) but he loves me, so he stopped trying to explain them to me.

It's fair. I have to explain football to him. :D

Interesting.....

The tops pros on ladbrokes all do side deals.

For example three of them (all in the top 20 points leaders (annual) were at my table all roughly even in chips.

All agreed to pay each other 10% of there winning...

Thats pretty common I think. The book, Positively FIfth Street, says that in the 2000 WSOP many of the final tables players wanted to make a deal but T.J. Cloutier refused because he felt it was bad luck and really wanted the bracelet.

You should pick up that book if you havent read it Nick, it's totally your style ;)

Fuck the railbirds. You were obviously more concerned with moving up in prize money than making a move to gather chips. You moved up in position and made more money. :okthumb: It all depends on what your goal was at that time.

Side deals used to be pretty common in land based casinos but with pokers popularity most of the tourneys have banned them now. Personally I don't understand that myself. I'm there to win the tourney and take top prize. Not share it with someone else.
