Apparently someone just threw a grenade at George Bush while he was on stage in Georgia (the former Soviet Republic not the state), but it didn't detonate.

Waiting for Associated Press to issue a report on it.

TondaB 05-10-2005 07:19 PM

I just heard a something in regards to this on the news. Do you think it is for real?

I heard Bush did not even know. He was told about the incedent when he got on the plane.

They're saying the Georgia cop who picked up the grenade, and got rid of it, is a hero. :rokk:

"It cannot be confirmed at this point, but ground sources say that Liberal Democrats are on the suspect list in the throwing of a grenade-like object at President Bush. Georgians report that a woman bearing a resemblance to Hillary Clinton was sighted exiting the event. We repeat, we do not have conclusive confirmation of this, but..."

What's shameful is assuming that people who happen to be somewhat geographically close will share the same mutated nationalistic fervor. :salute:

HAHAAHAHA I like that one ...

Although I am a staunch Bush Hater, I do not find it funny though that an apperant attempt on the USA president was the action that took place.

I think that no matter what the safety of a US president should be paramount in any visits abroad.

PornoDoggy 05-10-2005 11:13 PM

I don't see anything particularly funny about an attempted assasination.

The grenade line, however - that was funny.

Mike getting pissy about people who feel about Bush the way he felt about Clinton is also funny.

Mike AI 05-10-2005 11:30 PM

PD - as much as I disagreed with Clinton, I would NEVER want a President harmed in any way, at any time.

Aeon, its funny you automaticly assumed my remarks about the President and American's was strictly ignorant patriotism. I know you are a realistic guy, at least deep down, what kind of chaos would happen if Bush ( or any American President) was assasinated?

You ready for Dick Cheney to be President? What would it do to the wolrd economy? The US Economy? There is a strong pattern of negativism that occurs after a Presidential assasination.

I know, independant thinkers like yourself would embrace the Anarchy. :D

Folks like you would be on the western front defending ideals & hoping a grenade doesn't slip up yer ass for being patriotic while the aeons would be having a lunch of porterhouse and BBQ :stout:

No one wants Bush harmed...per se - he's harmed himself enough - listen to him talk. Coke heads speak in simple terms....I've done coke and lots of it - he's obviously topped me.

Edit: You are patriotic...don't deny it or I'll lose respect. I don't trust any government but what I do trust is the institutions desire to be self sustained. Governments are no different than religion - it's called self justification. If the prodigal son eats it...the status qou will go on. This isn't a question about Cheney being the president...the minute that happens I'm buying into haliburton. We might come to blows, but you and I will have to drink.

Wag a fucking dog.

Everything from this White House has been produced.

The fake reporters who are bloggers. The town hall meetings where everyone is hired. The earpiece feed at the debates. The swift boat "independent" third parties and the rest. Everything.

This was obviously yet another choreographed event by the Bush Doctors to improve Dubya's ratings. No more, no less, no story.

Anyone who believes in this post-9-11 era that something like that could actually happen is an utter moron. Cause I'm right. (I know, because the voters I hired for endorsements told me I am.)

RyanLanane 05-11-2005 04:40 AM

RyanLanane 05-11-2005 04:59 AM

Mike, you have to admit... even if you hated clinton as a person he was a damn good president and did great things for the economy. I will NEVER say Bush destroyed the economy single handedly like everyone else says. He was in the wrong place at the wrong time...

However I do think Clinton would of led our nation towards greener pastures if that stupid ass 2 term law wasn't a law. Personally I don't think we risk dictatorship by allowing unlimited terms and we should amend the constitution accordingly...

To be honest I don't like Bush because he is an ignoramus plain and simple. I don't say it just because I don't like him as a person or a leader of our country... I say it because he truly is an idiot... PERIOD. I have yet to hear anyone argue against that.

I don't have ANY problems with him as a U.S. citizen, however I do not think he should be the type of person that leads our country! I have a big problem with Bush, the only reason he is still in office is because he was able to run a good public image of himself for killing a couple hundred americans he sent overseas to fight a battle that really had nothing to do with what started the whole situation..

You say the name Bush it gets under my nails.. And originally I thought Kerry would of been O.K. but to be honest THANK GOD he didn't get elected either. He would of actually been WORSE then Bush as much as I ahte to say it.. Seen this year's 24... the way the VP stood in when the President went down on AF1 is how Kerry would of been for his entire 4 years in office..

I guess the lesser of both evils truly is Bush unfortunately - BUT .......

Bush still sucks ass, and I don't think he deserved the office once, let alone twice...

Ditto.

Clinton was a statist - a caretaker President. Clinton did not push or try to change anything major in 8 years. (He did try to socialize healthcare but thankfully he failed)

Clinton pushed off all major issues and let future Presidents deal with them. Clinton only cared abour polls, and personally enriching himself.

History is going to judge Clinton very poorly.

Just because you happened to make money on the net in porn while Clinton was president does not make him a great President. Hell we all did that. Clinton was lucky to have been aroud during a major economic boom - much of the groundwork was laid by previous Presidents.

Clinton was lucky there was a Republican congress who blocked most of his stupid ideas - incuding raising taxs.

Believe me I take personal responsility for the downfall of my business, there is no doubt about that. Let's see, I :

1) Ignored my business
2) Let it wither away and die when it would of been very easy to turn things around isntead of geting fdrustrated and blaming everyone else for the financial changes that happened in 2000 when the processors starting changing and T.C. rates cut in half.
3) Quit trying new things on the web
4) Gambled away hundreds of thousands of dolalrs in Vegas
5) Took lavish vacations
6) Pissed away $150,000 in the stock market
7) Took 2nd mortgage out to start a bar where I did nothing but party my ass off and was eventually shut down due to poor managerial choices
8) Got myself into the worst drug habits I possibly could

And I could go on... I am very hard on myself about what happened and blame it on no-one but me. No president in any office would of changed the outcome of my business except me as the President of my company acting as such.

I agree GW walked into office at a bad time due to the tanking Nasdaq but I also think people give him way to much leniancy on how he performed as a president due to that exact fact. Economists especially...

Please tell me 5 great things GW has done since he was president, and I don't count sending us to war and bringing our deficit back to the levels where it was 10 years ago as a good thing. Some good may come out of it but I still feel the war was politically motivated by certain lobbyists that someone from Texas just may deal with time to time.

To boot GW truly is not a bright guy, I don't say it as the blunt end of a joke.. .He truly is not an intelligent president. If I had to go Clinton or Bush I would go Clinton any day of the week.

Do you think Clinton would of attacked Iraq? Do you think we needed to attack Iraq? Were they an imminent danger to us at that point of time or was it just a way for Bush to make himself look good to American citizens? Did we capture Bin Laden int he war? No but we did get Saddam Hussein who had nothing to do with 9/11 which is what started this all ..

Kind of weird, all of our technology and spy satellites and we cna't find Bin Laden and nowadays (ever since the war started) we don't even hear aboutt he search for Bin Laden. I would bet a million to 1 the CIA/NSA knows exactly where he is.. For christ sakes he was trained by them and they gave him the weapons he has years ago..
