looks like everyone and their mother got some snail mail spam from them, including me.

i guess i am a member of triplexcash, but it seems eeeveryone got it.

DrGuile 04-08-2005 02:42 PM

Not to start any rumor, but the usual suspect for this is AVN

Trev 04-08-2005 02:44 PM

I keep getting ones from a company in Germany addressed to deepanal.net then my address...

Toni gets some weird looks off the postman

pushpills 04-08-2005 02:46 PM

reading on in the thread I see EC said it was just to triplexcash people but sure seem like alot of people wondering where they got their info. maybe it just was the triplex list and those people were wrong. whatever.

doesn't look too effective in a good way, alot of people seemed pretty pissed about it. i guess they know about the program now though.

No, he didn't. He said that it went to members of ANY program they have run in the past. TripleXCash as well as some others they owned of which were CCBill only programs.

I cant beleive that more programs havent done this yet.

Allthough at first i was a little shocked and disturbed ( i call home to here theres a letter from a company i didnt remember...woohoo a check i wasnt expecting..so i told the wife to go ahead and open it) Of course my wife would never listen to me, she didnt open it but put it in the pile to go to the bank...which is where she opened it...haha

But in all honesty i think it was a great move and like i said i cant beleive more programs havent done this.

In the brick and mortar business this is very standard and also a profitable marketing plan. Theres no reason to get in a huff about a mailer that hit people who were affiliates. And i havent saw anyone saying they recieved it without being an affiliate, except 2pac on gfy but hes not even a webmaster let alone an affiliate (and it turns out his brother did sign with triplexcash)

Anyrate, nice move on teenrevenue no matter what many think, they put there name out to alot of people with all the hype. Wouldnt even be surprised if the 2pac shit was planned. :)

chris, alot of people didnt like it, I didnt care that much, market your program however you want. i didnt read all 250 posts on the topic on gfy before posting my wonderings...but likewise i dont even think you read my second post, it's just piece of mail anyway. i think those who had no clue where you got their name from were probably from the non triplexcash programs.

Dravyk 04-08-2005 04:24 PM

Video Secrets keeps sending me surfer emails. You'd think "webmaster@" would be a fucking tipoff. Asswipes!

The thing is... I'm not justifying anything anymore. I don't need to, and I certainly don't think I should here at Oprano. This is supposed to be a more seasoned, intellectual bunch.

So let's leave the BS at GFY.

The Other Steve 04-08-2005 05:15 PM

It seems that the only acceptable way for any sponsor to announce a program or get people to look at a program is to either fill a board with bullshit - as one smaller program owners keeps doing over at the other place - or offer scads of money in some equally bullshit competition.

For some reason too many webmasters think like whiney little bitches that they are somehow special. Snailmail marketing is a legitimate form for anyone to use and the sooner some people in this industry wake up to it the sooner they'll stop looking like total twats.

chris, I actually posted this here first, then edited it after seeing something about it on gfy, hence the hhmmm where'd teenrevenue buy their list, and then me saying oh must be i signed up from triple x cash, and commented on what i saw in the other thread.

If it works well and doesnt piss people off for the most part, go for it. I posted it here first, then saw the gfy post, thought hey we'll get the facts here as I hadn't read all the way through yet. I didn't come to bitch and whine that I had to open a piece of mail.

rendh 04-08-2005 06:38 PM

Personaly if a sponsor sends anything but cheques to my door then its wrong! I signed up with an email addresss - use it... send things to my home/office then your burned!

Steve... I agree with you in principal.

You have however left out something. I hope that Oprano has grown to a point where its not filled with bullshit no matter its origin.

We have always allowed people to use text links to promote whatever they wanted. And recently we opened up the buttons to everyone that provided a recip link. So you can have a tidy campaign for nothing on here... like Nick said "We don't pay you to post on Oprano....but it pays to post on Oprano."

If you could only see whats going on in ICQ right now...

However... sponsors that pay to advertise here are getting THE BEST value in the industry. When you buy an ad here... all the way down to a text link heres what happens....

1) One of us looks at your B2B offering in detail. What other board even bothers to find out what your pitching? None that I know of. And certainly none at the level of detail that we go thru.

2) We try to ensure that how you present your service to this board will be well recieved. We do a good job of it I think unless your uncooperative or trying to scam. And then you know what happens here then.

3) Your ad goes on Oprano... you get an advert if you choose in the Sexines magazine and you get put in the commercial rotation on Oprano Radio. We plan to add in the ad rotation to Oprano Plus and on the new design of the GBU.

What other resource offers you that much value for your buck?
NONE!

Your lucky if they put your banner in rotation in a timely manner.

yeah
the only time I'd have reservations about it is if they sent it as a postcard type mailing...but as long as it's in an envelope, it's not a worry for me.

sarettah 04-08-2005 08:06 PM

Ditto here...

My wife put the envelope in front of me yesterday, I saw it was from Venus Management or some such and told her, probably a check from someone. Opened it and it was a little flyer.

Didn't bother me in the least and didn't even wonder where they got the name and addy from.

If it makes the advertiser stand out then they should do it... (just imho of course)

although, it would have been nice if it was a check too :)
