How and why do you call them the adult superpowers?
what do they own that is aduklt related? I mean I kow they play movies and all that and own the cable stations, but dont they have to buy or lease that content from some producer of some sort? or does the producer pay them a fee to be able to show it and if it works that way, does it work on a revshare between the two? what other mediums of adult entertainment are these companies into ? and what other areas of the infrastructure are they involved with ? why are these the answears cable companies? and is time warner owned by abc? disney etc? or does time warner own those companies? what percentage of there income would you estimate is derived from adult entertainment of some sort? |

Of those more directly involved, probably Playboy, but with Flynt closing on 'em.
Playboy has that quasi-mainstream edge that opens up market to them that others do not enjoy. The magazine is on most newsstands. Their videos are often in video stores which true porn is locked out of. And they have presence in PPV on TV. Their one true weak spot is the web. They have all that great content and haven't figured out how to leverage it on the web. And this is why I think Flynt is probably gaining. I suspect they trounce Playboy's numbers online. And they move a huge number of DVDs and videos now. But I'm just guessing, I'd love to see some real numbers. |

It's best to understand how the sex industry is broken up. There are print publications like Playboy, Hustler, Penthouse, etc. There are video production companies like Vivid. (And yes, I know that companies like Penthouse and Hustler and the like also produce videos.) Cable makes money on broadcasting softcore channels like Playboy TV, Spice, etc. Then there is the internet. That's a whole different animal. While there is a lot of crossover, it would be hard to say that any one company dominates the "adult entertainment industry" because of how it's segmented.
