Would you let someone's politics affect whether you did business with them? Do you do more or less business with "like-minded individuals"? If someone offends your political senses does it make you think twice about approaching them to do business?

Not me. I'll even do business with commies and Iranians. Even RawAlex!

grimm 02-07-2005 05:49 PM

:yowsa:

No. personal politics plays no factor. unless they are fundamentalists who might disrupt the flow of business by killing themselves in the name of Allah. Then id have to get a lot of insurance.

SykkBoy 02-07-2005 05:54 PM

nah, neither politics nor religion affect whether I'll do business with someone

DrGuile 02-07-2005 06:07 PM

definitely not. Ill take anyone's money....

TheEnforcer 02-07-2005 06:16 PM

Money spends the same no matter what kind of crappy ideals the person sending me it has.

Peaches 02-07-2005 06:22 PM

No, I would never allow politics to dictate whom I do business with.

*KK* 02-07-2005 06:36 PM

I don't let politics, religion or ex-status get in my way of doing business ;)

JizBiz 02-07-2005 06:46 PM

I dont take into consideration ones politics at all when doing business.

BUT at the same time i have noticed that some of the ways that politics is discussed on the board is in direct relation to how that persons business dealings will work.

If someone is blatently ignorant and rude while discussing politics or religion on a public business board (which obviously isnt the place), I think we all need to pay attention to how that individual handles the discussion. With passions and tempers often flared you can see excactly how one acts when the heat is on.

Thats invalueble business info in my opinion.

sextoyking 02-07-2005 07:17 PM

heck no!! well unless it was Mike :) LOL

Ah but you see, the very nature of politics or religion always means the guy who doesn't agree with you is stupid, and if he defends himself at your expense, then he's being rude. ;)

Seems to me that's kind of like assuming that the way somebody acts when they are watching a football game is the way they would act when conducting a business meeting.

No i dont assume anything. Its clear as day to see how people truely are when they enter these types of arguements/discussions. And YES the way they act during that football game is directly relevant to who they are and how they act. YOU ARE WHO YOU ARE.

Same as a company staff party. you dont go to it and get shitfaced drunk just because.."Its a Party" You act accordingly and conduct yourself as a representitive of your company.

As far as agreeing or disagreeing with either side, that isnt where the significance is. That lies in the way in which one explains or argues his opinion. THAT gives you insight into how that person perceives things and also how he/she acts when his buttons are pushed.

We can all say that the personalities carried across the boards isnt the true personality of the person in a business relationship, but lets face it, these are business based boards. I take into full consideration how that person behaves in the public arena when im thinking of doing business with them. Just like my brick and morter business i ran successfully for 12 years, i always take stock in my associates and if i cant be honored, or atleast have it a pleasure to do business with them, then i dont need the heartache.

Birds of a feather flock together. But im not here to tell anyone how to perceive each others business ethics, im just replying to an opinion post. :biglaugh:

JoesHO 02-07-2005 08:49 PM

I do not let their politics matter, I prefer to meet people in person then make my assessments.. hard to get an acurate read to context when it is just on a board, with that said, i do decide sometimes wether or not i want to approach that person of boards at a show or not

so it is a kind of tricky question, I guess we all are predjudiced somewhat by our early reads ....

Why thank you Colin ;)

Note to self: do not watch college basketball games with JizBiz, especially if there's any chance of Duke losing the game. He will never buy movies, process credit cards or even speak to you again.

World politics? Nah...

Business politics? Possibly, but only if it somehow conflicted with my biz....

For instance if my bread and butter were teen sites, I would find it hard to do business with someone who actively pushes against using the word "teen" in site promotion.
