Industry Wide Charity Auction for Tsunami Victims

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Its been a VERY long time since this industry got together and put on a live radio / net auction of donated goods to raise money for a good cause. I would have to say that the lastest disaster in Asia is worthy of such an event!

I will help coordinate the event if I can get a radio platform to handle it.

Any help, support, or suggestions would be helpful...

Marc ,

Nice chatting with you.

Fantastic idea.

Even the old curmugeons at Oprano wish to assist in anyway. :)

Let us know what we can do to help.

Great idea!!

Something the WHOLE industry can get involved in.

I will be bidding to make the damn penguins go away.

Good to see Oprano getting behind this as well.

Nickatilynx 12-30-2004 11:58 PM

Done!!!!

We will auction the penguins.

and stop the insanity.

Who will pay for me to remove the penguins?

Hell for all I care at a minimum of a 10k donation to Marc's cause , I will have them linked hot for one week to anyone's program.

Even if it does annoy everyone!

;-))

The American Red Cross also is coordinating with other sister Red Cross and Red Crescent societies to determine how best to equitably and effectively distribute an initial stockpile of relief supplies including tents, blankets, tarps, plastic sheeting, and hygiene kits.

The charity that hastens to proclaim its good deeds, ceases to be charity, and is only pride and ostentation. - William Hutton

Charity is injurious unless it helps the recipient to become independent of it. - John D. Rockefeller

"A bit of fragrance always clings to the hand that gives roses." -- Chinese proverb

"No one would remember the Good Samaritan if he'd only had good intentions. He had money as well." - MARGARET THATCHER

I am just sending more to our troops.

I think this may take attention away from them, and honestly they are more important to me. Though I definately think the US should do as much as we can.

Nickatilynx 01-04-2005 11:42 PM

I and Oprano will certainly support the auction in any way we can.

But direct aid to the redcross is good too.

BTW up here "Doctors without Borders" are saying forget it , we don't need anymore money?

I was like ,huh?

Anyone else heard this?

MikeAI -

My friend has made it back from his deployment in Iraq. You would enjoy this letter I was sent from him mentioning how he survived an IED attack on his hummer where 3 of the 5 in there had to be flown to a Hospital in DC.

He also mentioned all of the good he saw like Houses, schools and hospitals being built. How the Iraqi children love even one piece of candy that he gives and the toys he passed out which his own children sent for the Iraqi children.

The Tsunami ravaged areas are horrible. Something worth contributing to. However, your point is well taken. The troops are certainly seeing less support now as the media coverage has died down.
