Always fun to go to a small farm town (7k population, north vernon Indiana) and see the local yokels. The first night I got in, we surprised her dad (who i've met before) who picked us up, and her step dad where we stayed, neither knew I was commin' along. Her stepdad can only be described as a tortise. He's a smart guy, but slow to respond, slow to move, does the same thing every day, lives in a stupid little house, teaches history, and has a 6 year old t.v. Depresses the hell out of me, but he doesnt seem too unhappy. The next morning we went to her dads new church, he's a minister. He's starting his own new church, renting out space in a senior citizens center while they build up followers. He was booted from his old church when he decided to start bangin his secretary while he was married. He's been divorced twice and is about to marry a girl who has been divorced 5 times. He's a real character, like, not the normal judging preacher type of service. He speaks real laid back. He even points out contradictions in the bible, and says "well this says this, but this part says this....and here's what i think about it" And there was this christian singer guy singing cheesy "I wanna thank you lord" songs. It was the funnest sermon I've been to. Then we went ot the mall. The next day, we went to her brothers trailer home. That's right, he lives in a trailer with his woman, his kid, and 2 big dogs. Neither work, he does some design stuff on the side. Then bill (stepdad) and all of the trailer folk went to red lobster. Next day we slept all day, and met some of her friends, then I took the grayhound home, first time ever, which sucked ass. I bothered everyone by keeping the lights on and reading while everyone else was trying to sleep. And that's my south Indiana adventure! 3 days without using a computer, taking a cab, going to a crowded bar, etc. Fun experience, but 3 days was pleanty of it. :matey: |
The girl must be a real keeper if that family history isn't slightly scaring you right now.
