According to eyewitness accounts, the gunman initially shot and killed the band's guitarist, Dimebag Darrell. Darrell, 38, and his brother, Vinnie Paul, 40, are former members of Pantera -- a group they formed in the 1980s. Their father is Jerry Abbott, a country and western songwriter and producer.

totally fucking nuts
here was a guy who wasn't out ODing, wasn't drinking and driving, he was just onstage playing his guitar and gets fucking shot......

just fucking fucked

I'm just glad the cunt who did it is dead...it's just too bad he had to take innocent people out with him when he did it.....

That reminds me, I need to go renew my concealed weapons permit...

...it's a jungle out there.

wow...I have been friends with Darrel and Vinny since I was 13. This is so fucked

I grew up in that scene - metal kid - playing out in clubs
in the late 80's and early 90's. I have seen and heard of
a lot of screwed up events but this one takes it... there
are a lot of lonely people out there that are just looking
to make their mark in the world before they go. I wish
these people would just take themselves when they go...

RIP

What a tragedy. Abbott was a great heavy metal guitarist....one of the best.

Very sad.....

yup, that sucks....

What's ironic is that our 15-year old son just "discovered" Pantera... he was looking up albums to make a list of ones he wanted to get when he stumbled onto the news in a Google search. I realize the band was broken up and all, but that sucks to have just discovered something only to find out that day that the founders got shot.

Ohio is getting to be a pretty scary place - glad we moved when we did! <_<

Damn... thats totally messed up!

sad to hear that story since yesterday, everybody was talking about Dimebag and three other people who was shot at damage plan show.
