Now Serge, does playing nice mean agreeing with right wing conservatives and arm chair generals that have never risked a thing? Are only those who agree with the opinions expressed here allowed to play? Am I to assume that all contrary opinions are not allowed because they would upset the zen of the board. Or is it just that my particular brand of truth is just to painful to some? I always play nice until someone accuses me of ....say..."spewing". Which is not at all true, but does illicit a response in kind.
Remember, I do tell the truth and if that is not recognized, well nichivwo. You lose.
I do find the rhetoric and bluster around here amusing. At times it is akin to watching the Beverly Hillbillys. You know their story, I am sure. A bunch of po hicks that got lucky once and never could manage their finances after that. A lot of parallels around this board.
So whatever you decide. If the heat is too much for you, then its your ball park. I will continue to do what I do best. Make money and travel the world. BTW, Provence and Tuscany were just fine. I just returned last week. The Brunello was superb and if you are in the neighbourhood, you might try dining at Eduard Loubert, Le Moulin in Lourmarin. It only has two stars but is a fine meal.

Why do you think Tuscan are among the majority of the wines Italy sends to USA?????

The best wines in Italy today are from:
Piedmont, (Borolos)
Sicily, (Planeta Winery)
Puglia. (Primitivo)

Hello Todd!

Yep, Oregon voters embarrassed me too on the gay marriage prohibition. I expected better from such a normally progressive state.

I saw a bright light today though in Oregon Republican Rep. Gordon Smith....."Smith has tried repeatedly to expand federal hate-crimes law to cover crimes motivated by sexual orientation, gender and disability. His most recent effort was scuttled by senior House Republicans, but he said he would seek other opportunities to pass the bill.

"I'll still bring it up, and I'll still push for many gay and lesbian rights," Smith said. "And I still believe I'll win majorities on those issues."

Gordon is a conservative Republican, active Mormon, educated at BYU. He was the last person I expected to lobby for any kind of gay rights.

Hi LL :)

Yep Senator Smith is ok I suppose. Comes from Eastern Oregon area.

For him to come out like that is encouriging. Of course you can't be too right wing and hold national office if your from Oregon.

But wtf do I know after that messure passed.. I can see some good legal challenges coming from that..

I agree. with the new seats in the senate and house where is the Checks and Balances we all hope for??

I am kinda happy that the new soon to be chairman of the senate judicary comm. is pro choice and said today to the bush admin. don't send any potential supreme court nominees to us that have said or could overturn roe v wade.

Sen. Spector has allways been pretty moderate on social issues.

I am far from being an oeniphile, but I have polished off a few bottles of Barolo in my time and I do like it. I think Chianti reserva is just fine. I stayed a week in a Fattoria outside of Sienna and drank their cellar and enjoyed it. I have also travelled around Napoli and enjoyed whatever the local plonk was there as well. But the wine I enjoy the most, is still French. They have the best wine and the prettiest girls on the planet. I intend to spend more time in Provence and drink a few more bottles of Chateu-neuf-de-Pape and Cote d'Aix, the best local rose.

As for anthony, I never asked for the death penalty. If he is a spammer, and I have no idea, then I have no time for what he does and if he spent 15 years in jail, that would be his problem.

No Shit - Amen....

Even know Kerry got most of the Jewish vote, I wonder how all the seniors in FL will feel when some drastic changes come to Social Security?

Ah well, 2 more yrs till house elections and then 2 more after for the prez.

Where is clinton when we need him :)

Winetalk.com 11-04-2004 05:50 PM

Problem with Chianti, riserva included,
is lack of tanins Borolos have.
Napoli have no remarcable wines in the area, but Sicily is another story,
Planeta Winery is leading the renesance of Italian wines there.
Not only they have tanins of borolos, but they also have bodies of the best Napa cabs!

as for French wines...I don't know them at all! I hope to cover this white spot in my education when we go to Paris in March.
Hopefully you be around to give me some LOCAL names,
as as we both know, not all best samples reach our shores and more readily available where they are produced.

Let me give you some tips. When you go to Paris, you might try an evening at Guy Savoy. Book ahead but it will be worth it. The Somelier has written several books on wine and I am sure your knowledge of French wines will increase immensley. Make plans to spend at least a week in Provence. Go by train. I can help you out there, because I started with immense local knowledge from in laws who have a place near Aix. I would be pleased to point out some of the must see villages and hiking paths.

I don't know Paris well, but I would stay in Montmartre. I usually stay in the huiteme arrondisement which is near etoile metro which is the Arc de Triomphe, but I have family there. It is where the Champs Elysee, Louvre, all the designers on the Avenue LaMontagne. Montmartre is less expensive and more bohemian. I am told the left bank is very nice, but don't know much about it. As for apartment exchange, I have been offered various places in various parts of the world but haven't done it myself.

at the moment,
we are inclined towards either 6 or 4th....Monmartre is way too far from the center.

I told you, I just drink the stuff. I have a friend in London with four cellars and 20K bottles. I visit, I drink, I tour the cellars. I have tons of other friends who have cellars and they know all about that shit. Me, I just like big fat reds. Not my area of expertise.

Montmartre is a great place. You have Pigalle and a lot of nightlife and brasseries. I would happily stay there. I only know Paris by travelling there about a dozen times. I could easily help you with London, but Paris, I can only suggest.

I told you, I just drink the stuff. I have a friend in London with four cellars and 20K bottles. I visit, I drink, I tour the cellars. I have tons of other friends who have cellars and they know all about that shit. Me, I just like big fat reds. Not my area of expertise. [/b][/quote]

You said you were going to Paris. You gotta get out more if you think Montmartre is a long way from the centre of Paris, btw.
lol
I assume, you have never been there.

Nice to see you have started to travel. When you fill your first passport, let me know. I have filled a few. Nice piccies though. I think travel is enlightening and a wonderful thing. Taking a camera is also a nice touch. There is so much to see and so little time. You should try some exotic countries sometime, serge. I could suggest a few, but they are a tad dangerous, not for the inexperienced.

EDIT: LMFAOROF

Ask the world traveller and renouned oeniphile. Its up to him. Ya gotta laugh at that. I love to see coach tour guys pontificate on tour guide wisdom. Serge, you better ban me again. This is getting ridiculous. I meet guys like you all the time when I travel. I smile. I am curteous. We trade stories. Then they get on the bus and hit the next attraction. You see I know this and so do you. But I don't think you want your cover blown. So you better hit the kill switch like Mike did. But you know that I know what you are all about. One last thought. Can I give you a tour of Moscow? LMFAO

Dear J,
your condition is incurable,
