I'm waiting for Lisa to decide to join her friends for a Florida visit.

this year Floridians are getting fucked, and not in the nice meaning of the word
;-))) |
I don't see how the insurance companies will survive this.
My Windstorm is with the state's high risk pool but my homeowners is out of Orlando and their offices were destroyed in the first one and their temporary offices were destroyed in the second one. I would imagine that their financials have also been destroyed somewhere around hurricane two or three or four. Just think only six more weeks of hurricane season to go. |

The good thing is that federal law provides Florida with some great Insurance companies (even if some of the policies are exhorborantly priced). Gary used to work for AIG on Wall Street when he was younger and he was telling me a couple of weeks ago how insurance companies are told they have a certain amount of homes in Florida that they HAVE to insure if they want to do business here. Something about homestead (?) i think he mentioned. Hell, mom+dad have only had their insurance policy about 21 days now after their last company went belly up and they have already filed 3 claims  Of course their premiums and deductables are going to be sky high after the storm season ends :( Regards, Lee |
One good thing has come out of all these storms is that I have finally gotten friendly with my neighbors. In taking with them only about half of them renewed their Windstorm this year including the lady who just replaced her roof earlier this year.
I am soooo fucking happy that I renewed both my Windstorm and Homeowners this year that I can't even put into words how fucking happy that I did. I did almost let my Windstorm expire this year and at the last minute decided to renew it. On Thursday when they come to start on my new roof I'm going to have a warm fuzzy feeling all over as I write that 15K check to them just like I did when I wrote that 5K check to the tree people. Today when I get home from the gym I'm going to start calling around for a fencing contractor and a drywall contractor. I've already hired a tiling contractor and am dreaming of wall to wall tile. |
Cleo, Lee, do you guys have cable?
Mine is down ;-( |
We have cable here :)
Have you paid the cable bill Serge ;) Regards, Lee |

40 miles up the road from us Serge about began the path of destruction.
It's a goregous day, pretty sureal feeling considering I spent most of the weekend cooped up. |
Well i know that as of 6am this morning we still had gusts of up to 55 mph with sustained winds of around 30 mph.
We kinda got the tail end whisp of the storm over us for around 24 hours while it moved across the state and we were on curfew until 6am. I beleive they have only just opened up the bridges on the peninsula to so we'll probably go scouting around the neighborhood to see what real damage happened later today. As far as i know though, there are only a few homes in the area without essential services and mom+dads roof got damaged yet again so it looks like they will have to put another claim in :( Regards, Lee |
I dunno about anybody else, but I blame it all on..homosexuals!

Regards, Lee
it's SAFER to blame it on homos than on bushes, when you live in FL, US of A ;-))) |

;-)))
Oh i dont know.. There is evidence to the contrary ;) http://www.slamnasty.com/GODvsBUSH.gif ;) Regards, Lee |
Lee, GOOD one!
;-)))) ahhhh!!!!! ;-)))) |
My cable never went out this time but I did have to run wires from the back of my cable modem to my car's battery to power the cable modem. Guess I was lucky that its power in is 12 VDC.
And it was not the homos fault. I'd blame it on confused in the closet bisexuals. |

Interesting to see who is reading this thread.
Sudden, are you still in Vancouver? |
Serge, last night one of the computer models was forecasting a southerly drift of the remnants of Jeanne. This morning three models (GFS, No Gaps, and UKMet) are all suggesting that Jeanne will split in two like Ivan did and leave behind a low. Where it goes - if it occurs - will depend on where Lisa is.
Related note .. This time of year the threat to the US mainland usually shifts to the Gulf and NW Caribbean. Historically, and because of this, October has not been kind to South Florida. There are no low's nothing moving across Africa like there have been so recently lately. Maybe the Cape Verde season (name used for storms that form from African waves) is over. |
