Forget Abortion, Gay Marrige, War on Terror.
My vote for Kerry is because I believe it is best for ME, and at the end of the day that is what really matter to all of us. What is best for ourselves. I work in PORN Something I believe is both moraly acceptable and constitutionally protected. The current administration does not share my feelings on this matter which is MOST important to me. "Porn has no place in a decent society" - John Ashcroft If the proposed changes to 2257 (written by Ashcroft) do not indicate to you that this admin is out to harm the internet porn industry in any way they can good luck, and I have this bridge for sale in Brooklyn. This industry is covered by the First Amendment due to a 5-4 vote on the supreme court. A single judge replacement could mean life or death for the industry. Judging by the Fundamentalist Christian Yo-Yo appointed as AG - I sure as hell don't want Bush putting judges on the supreme court. I admit that with Kerry we don't know what we are getting, but I would rather take my chances with an unknown, then with someone that has already laid the groudwork for the attack on that which feeds me. |
Old Jeff - I believe your an intelligent man and we agree on many issues
But (and I'll get flamed for this) I believe Ashcroft is better for the long term profitability of the porn industry than whomever Kerry will place in the AG position The field need to be narrowed, the herd trimmed One of the fews ways our industry will increase profitability is by government intervention All porn peddlers like ourselves can't be done away with but some of the fringe (or major) guys could go and I wouldn't want to be one of the test cases but It's a chance I'll willing to take and I know a line of thinking is well if the new 2257 (ambiguous language and enforcement and all) passes what's next |
Jeff those are all valid points.
I am in a different situaton. I would be comfortable voting for Bush, even if he shut down the porn business. There is more to life then just a job. I can always find another job, start another company. I am concerned about Kerry being a Jimmy Carter, and weakening the US at a very critical juncture of our history. I want someone who is going to prosecute the war on terror vigerously. I want someone who is going to slap Iran down for building nukes, not someone who wants to wheel and deal with them. |
to me that's not a good enough reason to vote for Kerry, and most people in this industry are saying and thinking the same way:(
my life, my kids life and way of life is WAY more important than a job. |

Serge, I would rather live in a country with no boobie and Ashcroft, then live in a Nation where we are a huge target.
Look what just happened in Russia. Do we need Al Quada do the same to us in the United States? |

Honestly I am dissappointed that Democrats could not raise a candidate that could beat Bush. Kerry is flawed in every way.... he has a lot of baggage, and it is coming bak to haunt him. With all of Bush's mistakes and problems, he is still neck and neck with Kerry - and maybe even leading. Think about it. Bush is the most hated President in modern times.... yet he will probably win this election. At the end of the day I am comfortable with the moron I know, and don't want to take a chance with a possible wishy washing moron I don't know. |

grimm,
what are the personal freedoms YOU lost you miss the most? |
HOGWASH!!!!
No American, no matter how liberal they are percieved to be, will allow any attacks to take place on our country! the KEY difference is how to best stop that, so can anyone really with a straight face say they think GW has done a good job? Hell he even says he could have done things " a little different" |
Grimmy in da house! ;)

(search and seizure) should I point you out the laws you just _think_ are there and they are not? (think that the next time you go abroad with more than 10K in cash.) FYI, you can take unlimited amount og cash OUT of the country and bring IN when you declare it? and for privacy...you post on the boards, what kind of privacy you are talking about??? You are an open book, due to your own chosing ;_))) |

it's YOUR fault you could never make enough money for me even to concider it! ;-)))) [/b][/quote] makes you wonder how much it would take;) your lips on my asss must cost quite a bit, and i heard it was pro bono. and i dont blame bush. bush didnt pass the patriot act. that was the republican congress. he just didnt veto it. dont give the man more power than he has, checks and balances exist for a reason. |
serge, I'm not, I just SEE the bigger picture

The thought that somehow Kerry would be weak on defending this country as president. He is the ONLY one man enough to have fought for this country himself. The WHOLE other side, balked at that same opportunity. ( except colin powell, but they leave him out of the picknics even, let alone any policy decisions... but what the fuck would he know, he is just some old retired genral right!!!!) |

Lincoln was a Republican too Grimm - things turned out all right.
Please show me in the Constitution the part about "privacy", I spent 3 years in law school - and never could find the "privacy clause" |
The Patriot Act is the biggest load of shit ever. And the fact that Bush didn't veto it is also ridiculous. But then again, it serves his purpose to restrict what his potential competition can and can't do.

The Patriot Act has MAJOR flaws. It should be re-written to make it much narrower and focus on terrorist acts. It should not be used to arrest, harass, monitor normal criminals. |

Good fuckin' christ...they've done it brilliantly; got people so spazzed that the end of the world is nigh if you don't support the non-evil doers.
People do remember the cold war right? Us vs them...? Those evil ruskies are gonna destory our way of life. There's a commie at every corner waiting to subverse western culture? They took a horrific attack, turned into a self-serving, power grabbing political agenda - invaded a sovereign nation & sacrificed over 1000 US kids based on *cough* faulty intelligence (which just happens to have the 4th largest oil reserve, the leader of whom tried to knock off our current pres's dad - guess where the Pres & VP made their money and who got those contracts?). Might I add - they seemed to have forgotten about the asshole responsible...while giving every gutter arab and his brother another reason to hate the US even more. http://www.soton.ac.uk/~theatre/shows/gaz/images/1.jpg remember this guy? Hello....no one brings this up while haliburton, unocal, the carlyle group are making billions...just a few months after they were hosting the taliban in Tx. Why don't you look at who Karzai worked for? But you're safe now or safer! Terrorist attacks are down...or might I add - we said they were down but again, we were mistaken; they're really on the rise - seems we always "make mistakes" and admit them after the good PR had done it's job - we'll protect your children from the evil doers anyway, so who cares about things like "mistakes". BTW -There's a terrorist attack impending. We have credible evidence but that evidence doesn't say when/where/how it will happen...we overheard two camel jockey's talking on a cell phone so we interpreted that as a threat. Are you with us, or do you support those commie bastards, I mean evil doers? :salute: |
