straight from his own lips, he said that our childrens education is horrible, and that we need to do more ( I wonder if he meant more than just bullashit rhetoric)
he said that congress has failed our nation as far as improving our education system has gone.... he specifically said in the last three years too LOL hey do not get me wrong, I am all for mia cupla, but did anyone remind this bafoon that HE was the head of one of the same "congress" he is referring too AND BTW, THEY WERE REPUBLICAN CONTROLED!!!! so what was the cause of the failure? is it them damn liberals in the republican party again or was it bill clintons fault? |
Dude.. its epidemic.....
Michigan's Govenor ran on a platform of 'improved education'..... first thing the bitch did when she got into office?? CUT the Education budget by 1/3..... She's a Dem, btw.... |

Some school districts, here in Oregon have been forced to cut all extra ciricular programs, including any after school care, sports, or other programs, such as thespians, chior, band etc....
in fact they are now only going to 4 days of week school instead of 5 what is next? they already make people pay for the bus service if your child rides the bus.... I think this is more the core of why people bitch, cause we still pay as much, but the services get cut, it is not about giving them more, it is about REAL accountability, and unfortunatly building more schools, and sending teachers to other countries to teach our way of life, is not the answear IMHO |

which part is the waste? teachers getting a raise? administrators getting a raise? I can't speak for everyone nor other school disctricts, other than the one my kids attend schools in, but I maintain very close contact with teachers, etc. at my kids' school by joining organizations like the PTO/PTA, getting involved with fundraisers, etc. Maybe the lack of participation by other parents has resulted in a system of unchecked expenditures? Granted, there needs to be oversight into where the money is being spent, but just cutting out money for afterschool activities and freezing new hires just to save a few dollars isn't solving anything either. ah, but we've had this discussion before ;-) |

I just have to go by what I see here - the City of the Atlanta spends more per student than any other school district yet they are always one of the lasts on the lists for tests and overall school preformance. Most private schools pay less per student than most public schools yet it's widely considered you get a better education there. Private school teachers usually make less than public school so raising the salaries isn't always the answer either :( I'll just say I'm VERY glad I don't have to deal directly with the public school system any more. :okthumb: |
Do I have to do the education litany again
Fuck any school system YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE EDUCATION OF YOUR CHILDREN!!!! Not your congressperson Not the government Not the teachers at the school your child attends Not Republicans or Democrats Not the Governor of your state IT'S YOUR RESPONSIBILITY |
We all come in from the cold
We come down from the wire An everybody warms themselves to a different fire When sometimes we get burned You'd think sometime we'd learn Just like children hidin' in a closet Can't tell what's goin' on outside Sometimes we're so far off the beaten track We'll get taken for a ride By a parlor trick or some words of wit A hidden hand up a sleeve |

Education is a State and local issue. Feds cannot do anything but pour money into education.
The teachers unions should be disbanded, there should be a voucher system, and testing for students and teachers. Those who dont meet guidelines should be sent back to school - or if they are teachers FIRED. Our public education system is a joke. |
not everywhere. In the northeast with testing and regents exams, public schols are in top shape. My high school has grown in population fourfold, yet remains in the top 10% in testing scores and average GPA in the US...
I think public education should be renamed inner city public eduction. the suburbs are doing fine |
And why? Hint: See Vick's post. :awinky:
(before his song......... ) |

Majrity of school districts will not hire teachers with Masters educations or above. They cost too much. this is because teachers unions determine hiring minimums |

but then again, in the suburbs you have a larger segment of single breadwinner fmilies. Parents that can be there to be involved in their childs school lives. Poverty in inner city, or the necessity of two paent orking families allows children to fall through the cracks. It is the government's responsibility, through vouchers or tax breaks, to allow parents to work less and become more involved |
The mindless modern day liberals are simply expendable. I despise them & Marx would slaughter them in public...their very existence makes me gag but you people do understand: we peddle porn...I don't get it - are people that stupid they would put an evangelical Christian in the office when you're livelihood is based on something they consider theologically evil?
Listening to mindless stoner fuckwits is one thing and would make anyone feel intellectually dirty...realizing you're slitting your own throat is another. I've said before, in a masochistic kinda way I want jr. to be re-elected...I can't wait to see the new neo-con supreme court dealing with you all. Tell them about free speech. Before you do I'd suggest you go read up on National Socialism. :heil: |
I see that the rec room computer at the local psychiatric hospital was not properly secured last night ..

Poverty in inner city, or the necessity of two paent orking families allows children to fall through the cracks. It is the government's responsibility, through vouchers or tax breaks, to allow parents to work less and become more involved [/b][/quote] I was a single working (and usually poor) mother throughout my son's entire school years. I was involved. And I certainly wasn't the only one. Both parents working isn't an excuse. As far as the government giving money, while I approve of vouchers for private schools, that isn't going to somehow create parents who care enough about their children to be involved in their schooling. Neither will tax breaks. Again, throwing money at the problem isn't the solution or our public schools would be putting out the best students in the world, and we know they aren't. How do you make a parent care? I wish I could answer that question. :( |
Pssss Parents don't start educating or caring when a child reaches school age
It starts the day they are ... .... conceived One of the best and most treasured things in my life When Sebastian crawls up into my lap with a book and says"Daddy read please" You should have heard the conversation when we watched Fantasia Explaining evolution, music to abstract images (letting your mind create what it sees in a different way), changing of the seasons, good versus evil (sometimes good doesn't always win), mythology (and Bacchus was in it) and responsibility The opportunities to learn (for both) are incredibly fulfilling and endless |
