Looks like the "rock" stars are coming out full force for this election. The Boss, dixie chicks( I didnt know they were still touring:) goo goo dolls and a ton more touring though some of the closest states........
Will it make a impact? |
I do not understand why celebs, and rock stars think people give a shit what they have to say about politics. They are performers - entertain us then shut the fuck up.

No, no, no ... that's different. He was a rite-thinkin' 'merickin. Besides, I have seen several Ronald Reagan movies. He was not an entertainer. |

In fact certain "Celeb" supporters would be more likely to make me vote the other team. for instance...Whoopie ... |

Ronnie had been out of the entertainment industry for a while when he devoted his time to politics... These 'entertainer's' are interjecting their political views WHILE they are attempting to be entertaining.... :awinky: Frankly, I dont give a rats ass WHO they are backing... If I go to a concert, I want music, not some drugged out idiot's rendition of what THEY think I need to know.... |
Okay, so you don't want to hear it from entertainers.
Don't fucking listen and quitcherbitchin'. Last time I checked, the Boss, the Chicks, et al. were still Americans. They have the right to speak out just like anybody else. Quiter frankly, I'm not particularly interested in the political opinions of most celebs either. Doesn't mean I bitch about the fact that they express themselves. Most people, IMHO, who DO bitch about it only do so when a celeb happens to be taking a position opposite the one they hold. Besides ... take the TOTAL number of people who will see all of the entertainers who are pro-Kerry between now and the election. Compare that to the number of people who will tune in to the 700 Club - which is a virtual RNC infomercial - and the thousands of radio "preachers" throughout the country telling folks that gawdamitey hizownself has annointed GWB to save the country from the homa-sexuals and secular humanists and baby killers and radical feminists and sodomites and pornographers and ... And while we're at it ... since a lot of the same people who might be swayed by rock stars might also be swayed by the "no difference between Bush and Kerry" arguement put forth by Nader, and since it seems that Nader happens to be getting quite a nice chunk of Republican campaign donations - why the fuck shouldn't they speak out? And while I'm at it ... I'll make a stab here at actually answering Dan's question. Will it make a difference? Maybe. This appears to be one close S.O.B. If it motivates some young people (who vote in very small numbers) to vote, and pushes them to Kerry instead of Nader, it could have an impact. |
Personally, I hold a celeb's opinion in the same regard as I do the guy who delivers my mail, the women who teach my kids and the guy who fixes my leaky pipes....
Just because someone's a celeb, doesn't mean their opinion is greater than anyone else's, but doesn't mean it's worth less either... |
Oh fuck this
Get Ted Nugent to play the "Wango Tango" at the RNC |
