I'm headed to Biloxi the last weekend in July for the kid's 21st and still trying to figure out where to stay. There are some friends that are going with me - 2 my age (married couple) and 3 Clemson Tiger's age - and they can get rooms for $85 a night through the player's club. However, they can only get 2 rooms (1 for each member) and there are 7 of us. :zoinks:
They've kindly offered to let us bunk with them, but to be honest, that's a little too much "togetherness" for me. The regular rooms are $209 and I'll pay that if I need to, but I thought maybe one of you big spenders had a membership and you could use it to get me a cheap room - paid for by me, of course :awinky: Now, I also don't know the rules - it may be you have to be the one who stays in the room which would make this all moot, but I figured I'd throw it out and just check :) Of course, the invite is still open for anyone who wants to join us :) Thanks! |
Billy might know someone....
I have only gambled on the coast a few times, was not to impressed. I am more of a Vegas kind of guy! |

Now that I think about it.....I should run over to the BR and join the Player's Club while I'm there this weekend - DUH :) |
Beau Rivage is owned by MGM-Mirage. If you have a MGM Players Club card it'll work at the Beau or any of their other properties (MGM Grand, Bellagio, Mirage, Treasure Island, etc). I dont think the bennies are transferrable though.
If you dont have one, grab it online and see if you can use it immediately to get the discount. http://www.playersclub.com If that doesn't work, get a credit application, apply for a line of $100K or so and then ask again. |

I'm hoping I don't have to lose $250 at the BR this weekend in order to save the $250 when I go back in a month..... :awinky: |

Looks like you can get some good mid-week specials very easily. However, they're pretty tight with the weekends.... I doubt you'll get casino rate without running up some points on the card. I haven't been there since the place was bought out by MGM, but at that time they were at least generous with the player ratings. They were rating players playing $10 a hand. In Vegas, on the strip, they pretty much wont rate you for anything less than $25 a hand. And if you want a RFB comp, plan on playing $100 or better for a few hours a day. Beau is nice, but a very different scene than Vegas....lots and lots of little old ladies playing slots. Vegas it's not. |

I know my friends who are getting the $85 rate are NOT high rollers and in fact, even though they've been there several times, she told me they just got the card on their last trip. I'll call her tomorrow and see what they played and how much so I get a better sense of what I need to do - or it might be better to pay the extra $250 ;) Maybe I can go, win a few $100K and get a suite comped for the next trip - an old lady can dream, can't she? :D |

If I'm paying over $200 a night, screw it, I'm going to vegas. If they get it down under $100 the gulf coast aint that bad of a weekend getaway. The little old ladies aren't that bad once you get used to the smell of mothballs. And remember it's about how much you PLAY not how much you LOSE. Just stick with the games with low house edge. Blackjack and Pai Gow Poker lessons are offered after dinner around here....especially if the scrabble board isn't available. |

You were SUPPOSED to teach me Pai Gow in Vegas :( and I won't be able to do dinner until I get back after this trip, but classes after that and before the 30th are always welcomed and greatly appreciated! Though I must warn you, ask anyone who's tried to teach me anything that involves numbers and they will tell you I'm a VERY slow learner and I MUST write it all down - ask Wig ;) BTW, I'm typing this from bed - I LOVE THIS WIRELESS STUFF :) :) :) |

But I digress... No numbers means no blackjack. However, if you at least know the basic rankings of poker hands, Pai Gow Poker is extremely easy to pick up. Vegas was just too damned busy....I dont believe I spent more than 2-3 hours total at the tables the entire week. And I dont think I even made it to the blackjack table. |

Most places offer those rates to slot players too.
Just get your card when you first get there this weekend, before you do any gambling & then call and ask for Players Rate... also, they usually have some kind of special or bonus points for players who first get the card. After you are on the list - you will probably receive flyers with a calendar and players rates listed every couple of months. |
I'm planning on it :)

Thanks, Fay - I signed up for the Player's Club last night and I'll pick up my card at the BR when I get there. You've seen me at the slot machines - it should take less than 15 minutes before I've lost enough to get them to comp me a suite for a week B) |
Peaches, Let me know what you end up with. I'll be in that area most of next week and I may be able to help you some. My Mom is one of those blue hairs that is often at Beau Rivage. And... I, somehow, am on their mailing list and I get emails all the time with specials.
Let me know if I can help any... you know a man's 21st birthday is a big deal! :hic: |

ive been a member for 4 years. its prettty difficult to get a room for a friend, since that person wont be playing like the person who is in the club. might want to try the Grand, which is right next to it. Just as nice. restaurants are good. Matt |

and remember, they rate you on time of play, and amount of bet. so if you blow through all your money real quick, you wont see much. also, theres a trick for slot players, every day you are there, tell them you lost your card, they wil give you a new one. find an old lady who is playing without a card, and ask her if you can slip your card in. more often than not, they will say yes, so her play will go on your card. i you do this enough, your play will look 5 times as long with 5 times the betting;) If you are a card player, stretch it out as much as possible. to get a comped room check when you are going, they are much looser during the week, as they have a lot of extra rooms. And gamble for long lengths of time, not just quick hits. play progressions, as more times that not when they make notes on your betting, you may be 2 or 3 hands into a progression. Also, be friendly with the pit boss, as he is less likely to make an error if he sees your smiling face, and may bump up your rating, add a couple hours, raise your average bet, etc. Matt |
Thanks, Grimm :) When I go this weekend, I'm staying at the Holiday Inn :( I plan on hopping over to the BR in order to use my card a few times and then see if I can make a reservation while I'm there for the lower rate. They may say no, or I could have lost so much by then........ <_<
Now that I know the tricks of using blue hairs to crank up my card and flashing boobs at the dealers, I may end up OK :) |

Grimm's experiences match what I've seen on all MGM properties. If you're not an established player, they'll rate you and give some back as you leave including changing your room to casino rate and rebating you the difference.
Your mileage will vary though, all depends on the hosts, the floor man, who takes the reservation and who checks you in. Gratuity and just being nice will go a long ways. |
Casino rate is a good rate, if you play for stretces at a time, you will get it.
Also, a well placed 20 can get you a lot at th e check in counter :D |
