This old bat is proposing legislation to "encourage" folks living in Washington State to have "Two Or Fewer" children. Shades of things to come, perhaps China's 1-child law and punishments for those with more? Take a look at her picture. I'd love to know how many children and grandchildren that old bat has. If she has more than two of either, I'd ask her quite simply which of those children she'd like removed from her life... and then see how quickly she sticks to her assertion that the gov't should get involved in telling people how many children they "should" have. Grrr. |

I doubt she ever found any guy to impregnate her! |

Numbers and age are irrelevent, but there are couples who haven't even grown up enough to take care of themselves bringing kids into this world. In many cases, LOTS of kids. In most states ya gotta have a license to own a dog, drive a car, or even to go fishing. But all ya gotta do is have working plumbing to bring another human life into this world even if you have no means to provide it with reasonable food, shelter and clothing... The humane society wouldn't even let many people, who have a half dozen kids, adopt a cat. |

I was going to say something similar this AM but thought it might be taken wrong. It was one of those "I typed it and then thought I'd wait to get other reactions" things. :P |
I think we can all agree that we've known/seen/heard of folks who really shouldn't have kids - in our opinions.
But does that mean we're ready to let the gov't give out permission for when we can and can't have them? Who would make those decisions? What would be the qualifications? If you open it up to gov't, then you open it up to abuse and exploitation like anything else the gov't puts its hands on. The day my state tries to "encourage" me to listen to it regarding how many children it thinks I should have, I'm moving. The day this country follows China and says you can only have x number of kids, I guess I'll be packing my bags and sadly saying goodbye to the good old USA. :( |

anyone on welfare should be banned from having kids

to limit your personal freedoms in the cause of the greater good or your own good? You can't even drive around without your seatbelt on. You can only smoke in designated areas. You likely can't even throw a really big party at your house without your city's permission. |

In the home of the free you can not smoke inside or drink outside, so if you want to have a smoke with your beer you better go home... patriot act etc. etc. I'm surprised in the American public to let all this happen, it is all pointing in one direction, Gattaca, A Brave New World, 1984... |

I’m seriously thinking about selling my ranch here in Florida, finding an adult company to work for overseas and leaving. To be honest, if it wasn’t for my three dogs I might have already done this. I’ve wanted to break into the web cam industry for a long time now. It looks like overseas is my best option anyhow. What worries me are laws in other countries and going to jail there. Lol- I guess I could still travel for work or work remotely. At this rate I’m not even sure I want to get paid via US banks. I know there are a lot of Bush fans on this board so I really try to stay out of political discussions. If he gets elected another term I’m definitely gone if I’m not already. |
Jezzzuz Ke-rist. Sometimes the bubba factor around here is thicker'n a moon pie done been stored in the 'fridgerator.

Hmmm that would depend on many factors Peaches. I’d love to live in Holland or some place where the adult biz is accepted. Hopefully work for a large adult company producing content so I want an area where the chances of me getting busted are not as high. Somewhere I can take my dogs and not quarantine them for 3 months. I’d really like to move to Panama. The climate is nice, many people speak English and I have a feeling that adult internet would do well down there because the cost are so low. Colin you're depressing the shit out me! It really gets my goat when people talk about the US being land of the brave and home of the free when all along the issues you raised and more have been going on. Lets not forget how this country was founded and what they did to the indians. I am half native american and it's pretty damn sad that I'd want to leave. |

That's why I said if my state did it, I'd move (I meant to another state); but if the *country* did it, I'd have no choice but to leave the country - can't simply move to another state. Once something gets through your local legislature it's a relatively minor process to change it; hell it's a relatively minor process to make your voice heard and keep it from going (or on a positive note, get it pushed) through in the first place. But trying to change/affect something in the federal legislation machine is damned near impossible. You're fighting lobbyists, special interest groups with billions of dollars and groups of "have bus, will travel" hired demonstrators, etc etc etc... I really really hate to say it, but once it's passed through the federal level you may as well just give up. I'd love to have a complete overhaul and clean-up process of the current systems, along with line-item vetos, but unfortunately I just don't see that happening in my lifetime or even my kids' lifetimes. :( |

But anyway, nothing you've said changes the fact that we already live as a slave to our governments. We're so used to it we forget. I don't want to a wear a seatbelt. Do you really think it would be easy for me to petition my state and have the seatbelt law removed? It's not like there are just 3 examples. There are thousands. We've become so used to them that most of us just think of them as common sense" now. Ever try and walk down the street naked? |
Colin did you just do your taxes man? lol -kidding - I get pretty heated over the same issues. Aren't you living in South Florida?
On birth control- I always wondered why they never came up with a plan to curb women on welfare from dropping babies. The more they have the more they get whether they care for them or not. Many sell their food stamps. If they taxed people per child do you think people would think more about having them? The Indians have a messed up system where they pay each tribal member dividends per month from gambling proceeds. Here in Florida they get 2000.00 a month for each child that even has a ¼ Indian. The problem is that eventually they will kill their race and then where is that money going? You have a large collection of non-Indians who chase Indian girls and guys to make babies. The family gets the money until they are 18. after that they go make babies and collect more money. Many of them don’t bother working. |
I think the welfare system is the problem personally.
