http://www.thestreet.com/_tsclsii/markets/...s/10133419.html U.S. Raises Terrorism Alert Level By TSC Staff 12/21/2003 03:27 PM EST The U.S. government announced that it raised the nation's "terror alert" to orange at a news conference held in Washington, DC on Sunday. Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security Tom Ridge ordered the threat level increased to "high," which is orange, from the "elevated" yellow status. On the five-point scale, orange is the second-highest level. Saying that risks are "perhaps greater now than at any point since Sept. 11, 2001," Ridge cited increased chatter picked up by U.S. intelligence about attacks during the holiday season as the reason for the move http://www.bitsntits.com/front000001.htm |
Heck I did not think they found out about all the fireworks we got for the annual Hi-Rise / Purecash.com New Years Eve Party !

I feel safe - usually when there's a big alert, the secret service guys start hanging around because of the Ex-pres's house. Haven't seen them checking the phone/electric/etc.
All you in the big cities are welcome to come stay with me and Wig if there's a problem - we have our own water supply, beds and I have a couple of air mattresses. Those who love pets, stay with me. B) |
I heard they thought there was a suicide bomber, most likely female, running around in NYC.
Other than that, all I can say is that oranges and tangerines always remind me of Christmas, so Code Orange is just getting in the holiday spirit. :agrin: |
Just in time to make going to the airport for Internext a bit more of a pain in the ass....

Oh gee a higher threat around the holidays.. wow.. shock.. tis the season. I expect that orange threat rating will be the standard in the states for the next, oh.. say.. 10 years around this time.

Speaking of security... I don't want to be around aymore when the President comes to visit. I happened to be coming into FT. Myers airport during his last visit. He landed just after us and we had 15 minutes to get our uggage and get out of there before they closed the airport down. They not only closed the airport, but also a whole section of I-75 and several main roads in Ft. Meyers. My cell phone didn't work until I got about 5 miles from the airport. It was crazy, just trying to get around the whole day.

Apparently I don't look very dangerous - I've never been singled out to do anything but the standard run through the metal detector, never gotten the "we checked your suitcase" note, never taken off my shoes. etc. Of course, this time I'll be with ClemsonTiger...... <_< |
