Already on DoCoMo phones in Japan
http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=6265 And also on a Laptop near you... http://www.sharp3d.com/ 3D photos and movies are the breakthrough product of 2004 - and you KNOW how porn drives all fresh technology (VCR, Internet, DVD etc...) Content providers should keep an eye on this now... Free site and pay site owners, this may be the way to kill all the free porn dead once 3D displays become sufficiently used - surfers will then only want the 3D stuff - not all the 'boring' old 2D stuff. I sense a new 1997 on the horizons ; ) [Edited for spelling mistakes] - 'Frank' ; ) Last edited by Frank at Dec 10 2003, 05:43 PM |
You're kidding right?
Sorry to bust your bubble, but 3d has been offered for free with the Asus line of card for like 3 years now. Its only new on laptop. Also, Asus pulled it from its cards because nobody cared and it sucked pretty bad. |
my mistake, different technology without the glasses...
But it is still a "blinking" principle rather than 2 sources. |
Nope ; )
Fully glasses-free and also two separate sources - one aimed at each eye - no blinking at all. You can get one of these now from SharpSystems - and the Consumer (cheaper) versions will be available at Easter. Three manufactureres of PC are licensing Sharp's screen technology. I promise you - this will be huge - I shall be investing at least $250K in it myself ;) |

Next youll be telling us about filming cocks from a hole in the ceiling. |
Only problem with 3D it tires out your eyes very fast and often gives people migraines.
|
These will be on sale in Best Buy in the US and Dixons's/PC World in the UK from the Spring. Imagine what surfers with these 3D PCs will pay for quality 3D porn : )
3D is about to go mainstream - Sharp expect it be be a $500 million business within 5 years : ) They should know they are the world's largest maker of LCD screens... Sanyo, Samsung and others are following. Pretty soon you'll see 3D on various types of cellphones, PDAs and notebooks. And KRL you'd be amazed - it's very easy on the eyes because there are no glasses it's just like real life... Last edited by Frank at Dec 10 2003, 08:03 PM |

Sorry Dr Guile but you are wrong.
I have one of these : ) I was with the director of DDD.COM today - they wrote the software and own the patents... There is a diffraction grating of black lines over a 1024 x 768 screen. 512 of the columns are sent to the left eye and 512 to the right - all at THE SAME TIME. There is no flicker - each eye gets a 512 x 768 picture at a full frame-rate - and no flicker at all - THIS is why this technology is revolutionary - it is simply stunning - having seen it myself (I bought one of the 1st products off the production line) I am changing all my businesses to envelope this 3D : ) Last edited by Frank at Dec 10 2003, 08:11 PM |

you'll have to tell me what switching liquid crystals are than.
"The parallax barrier is controlled electrically using the switching liquid crystal." Also, what happens if you are slightly to the left or right of your laptop? Other thing, why bring this to the laptop first instead of the desktop lcd? |
paraphrasing:
"we always over estimate the impact a new technology will have in two years... and underestimate its impact in 10" Bill Gates |
>> you'll have to tell me what switching liquid crystals are than.
>> "The parallax barrier is controlled electrically using the switching liquid crystal." If you read it more closely you'll see that the switching LCD is what is revolutionary. It does not turn on and off 60 times a second or anything - it simply switches between 2D and 3D. in 2D mode the black LCD is switched out - in 3D it is switched in. There is a button on the laptop that allows you to switch instantly between 3D and 2D - that's all the switching means. In front of the laptop there are about 9 sweet spots - yes you need to manouver your head a little and choose the sweet spot you prefer - but also people around you can view the 3D too by moving into a lateral sweet spot. However, you are correct, this technology is young and to keep it affordable the first devices will be notebooks, cellphones and PDAs. A more expensive version of the technology is being developed for group viewing (such as in the home) - this will be about 5 years before it is affordable - then we'll see the technology transition to the living room. The markleting plans of the LCD manufacturers is to have 3D TV in the stores by 2010 - but personal devices will have it from now onwards. JR - yes, your comment gives pause for thought - but over $1 billion has been invested in this new 3D technology so far - I think they must be *fairly* certain of making money having spent that : ) |
But the big question is: What do one-eyed pirates see? :matey:
|

how many billions were invested in dot bombs? how many billions were invested in the upcoming broadband revolution? High Definition TV? i can go on. "investment" does not necessarily equate to success. i admit that what you are talking about has some novelty to it... it takes more than novelty to drive a business and make a profit. this has "Segway" written all over it in my opinion. "kinda cool... but so what"? |
Just to post something constructive ....
I think the 3D "rotate the model" thing is pretty cool. And I think the Flash-based magnify and pan thing you see at catalogs like Sharper Image are too. I've seen some of this done with adult in the past, but enough. Those are interesting technologies that have been here that adult hasn't utilized fully. |
>> Kinda Cool... but So What
JR, wait until you pop in your local computer superstore and actually SEE this - it's like the change from black and whbite to color - my mother used to go on about not needing a color TV - a B/W had everything she wanted. But you can bet, as soon as she saw one in the local shop she bought a color TV : ) Same goes for 3D - it's the next level and *ALL* TVs will be 3D capable by 2025 - maybe a lot earlier. I won't bang on about this too much more here. But I hope one or two other Oprano participants will see how this is the same as the mobile phone phenomenon. Who would have thought it would take off like that? Well - if 3D only grows 1/10th as quickly - there will still be money a-plenty to make - but as with most things - the ones in first will reap the most rewards. Watch this space :) - Frank... |

how would you characterize the difference between dial up and broadband in terms of possibilities, interaction, content etc? isn't it a similar example? |
Dravyk, agreed.
But look at what Sun are up to: http://wwws.sun.com/software/looking_glass/ Check out these movies: http://www.sun.com/bigadmin/xtreme/ Did you see that? You can spin a web page in 3D - write comments on the back and spin it rouynd again! And loads more - this is just experimental stuff - but it *WILL* surface soon on actual 3D displays. Your desktop will be 3D before too long : ) |
Well JR, like any new technology it will grow. The successful products will allow switching between 2D and 3D to encompass both worlds - consumers will move at their own pace but sure as eggs are eggs - 3D is what they will eventually have.
But time scales? All I can quote is what the big companies say... |
Quote:
the hype is always greater than the reality. |
and like everything... it needs a "killer ap" to drive it. i think that "novelty" is not a "killer ap" and dot com graveyards have proven that well.
but its still neat. |

I just got hold of the 3D consortium list of members. All these companies are participating in spearheading 3D.
Let me just summarise a few companies from the list: Sanyo, Sharp, Sony, Casio, Fuji, Hitachi, Kyocera, Matsushita, Microsoft, Minolta, Mitsui, Motorola, Namco, NEC, Nikon, Nintendo, NTT, Nvidia, Pentax, Philips, Ricoh, Samsung, Toshiba I hope you'll now begin to consider that this is not just a novelty - it actually *is* going to be huge... - Frank ; ) 3D Consortium List Steering Committee Members Itochu Corporation NTT Data Corporation Sanyo Electric Co., Ltd. whats in it for you? it seems that either you are about to sell something, you want to sell something in the near future, you are testing the waters to sell or pitch something... or you have some crazy newbie business plan you want to pitch about 3D scratch and sniff pussy monitor technology or something. now i am interested. |
JR, Right now I simply want to make people aware of what is about to happen next year. And yes, I do have a motive. By the time these machines go on sale in the superstores I hope to have one or more webmaster programs ready.
Generating awareness now will help this. Especially I hope a few webmasters may decide to go to sharpsystems.com and buy one early (mail order only at the moment) - they will then see the full potential like I have - and they are superb toys anyway for a webmaster wanting a completely different Xmas pressie : ) There is already a utility that will take 2D pics and create 3D ones for these machines - but as well as repurposing old adult content I will be hoping to get some actual 3D photosets commissioned. These machines also play 3D movies and I plan to license some movie clips with which to sell 3D DVDs - in a few months 3D streaming should come on line too. Porn grew the VCR, DVD and Internet markets - it will also grow the 3D DVD market and the 3D Internet - And yes - I will be buying shares in many of these companies :) [corrected typos] Last edited by Frank at Dec 11 2003, 07:43 AM |

is Rob Berman your head legal counsel? do you own a "patent"? |
Once upon a time Oprano and the adult net was full of innovators - nowadays it's populated with cynics and naysayers who all complain that things aren't what they used to be and how it's so hard to make money any more - well guess what - things are going to change for the better in that at least one new area will open up for adult. All that's needed are a few forward-thinking people - I guess those participating in this thread won't be among them and will miss out : (
Fair enough - All I wanted in this thread was to make one informative post but it dragged into a debate - so I'll leave it there as there's no need to say any more : ) |
Frank, you've just got to ask yourself some common sense things.
In today's world of $600 laptops and $200 PCs, who in their right mind is going to pay $3k for a laptop with a special high-tech 15-inch screen that will show nekkid women floating in the air? It's just not worth the $2400 difference. Last edited by Carrie at Dec 11 2003, 03:15 AM |

and? so will time travel. should i pack now? how does that technology apply to people running a business on December 11, 2003? we are still waiting for the "broadband revolution" so we can show people a decent site design and decent videos... I am still waiting for HDTV since the first one my father bought in 1986. maybe i am behind the times.. my computer is run by squirrels on a treadmill. well.. one squirrel. the boy squirrel seems to be depressed lately and not really pulling his weight. the girl squirrel is fine... but still confused about your post. |
