I guess now the Saints have a fighting chance when they come to visit in October....

Ouch for the Falcons

Yeah Hell Puppy - Sucks for Atlanta.... as a Saints fan I would prefer Vick play and we beat the Falcons....

To be the Man, you have to beat the man!

However, injuries are defnately part of the game. We were without Duece for a few games and he is out best offenisve player.

I'm a Rams fan ... after last year we don't like to even HEAR the "i" word. Went up to training camp a dozen times this year, and they looked a lot sharper than last year. Interesting thing is that this year Martz was all over the field, whereas last year he spent most of the time looking at them from one of the towers.

We play Atlanta on a Monday night (October 13) a couple of weeks before we crush the Pittsburgh Tinmen

You are aware the Steelers have a bye week before the Rams game and it is in Pittsurgh aren't you? It isn't exactly easy to beat the "tinmen" as you call them here. Dome teams usually wilt here. :)

He played last season with 2 dislocated shoulders and plus the fibula isn't a weight bearing bone. I give it 5-6 weeks tops. Most doctors like to overestimate the time it takes for bones to heal just to make sure that the bone will definitely be healed. Atlanta has a great back-up quarterback in Doug Johnson though. He came through the Florida Gator QB program and would be the starting QB for more than 1/3 of the NFL teams out there right now. The Falcons will still be a top team to beat and will still most likely make the playoffs.

We also have a bye, and yes I know it's in Pittsburgh, and I know that they are by no means "tin men." :D

As far as the dome team thing, you may be right - depends on which bunch of Rams shows up on that given Sunday.

PD - how did Warner look throwing? Last 2 years due to I-word Warner mechanism was off

CT - Atlanta plays in one of the toughest divisions in football. Having to play Tampa and New Orleans home and away every season is rough. Falcons without Vick aren't the same team

Ulfie - We know how hard it is to play at Pittsburgh all too well

Early season pick for the Super Bowl .....
Tampa VS Miami

Even with the time that the doctors gave Mike Vick, the only game that they would need to really worry about would be a home game against the Bucs. Having home games in domes (especially with the attendance Atlanta has been getting recently) helps them tremendously just like Minnesota home games when they were having good seasons, the crowd takes the away team out of it.

I think it will be Atlanta/Miami or Tampa/Miami in the Super Bowl.

Yep Vick, this may be one of the toughest places to play in. Almost any road stadium is tough to play in though. Places where fans REALLY know the game like Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and Green Bay are very difficult to win at. I've been to hundreds of Steeler games both here and on the road and the fans here know when to make noise and when not to.

Steelers lost again tonight and are 0-2 in the preseason but believe it or not they look pretty good. First game the Lions played their starters for most of that game because Mariuchi is desperate to get a winning tradition started. Tonight against the Eagles they ran a completely vanilla offense and defense. I have the feeling after watching Cowher's postgame press conference he's pretty confident in the team and doesn't want to show to much in the preseason.

For you fantasy football fans, Maddux wasn't sharp. Charlie Batch was. Donovan McNabb didn't look very good either. It's preseason though.

That's my Steeler wrapup for tonight. :)

So why are we wasting our money PAYING for an education when you've apparently got all the knowledge needed for a medical degree in orthopedics?

Slammed by your mother on a porn webmaster board ... man, some folks have it REALLY rough. :)

Warner looked very good ... lotta zip very accurate. Of course, there weren't too many people in his face, and his hands haven't been bent, folded, spindled and mutilated just yet. My grandson, who is 9, got a hell of a kick out of sitting 40 feet from where they were practicing.

I have never really cared much about preseason games except the last one. Of course, as a long-time long suffering fan of Billy Bidwell's "Big Dead", (may they stay in Arizona forever!!!) sometimes the preseason was all we had to look forward to. It usually went down hill fast from there.

Well, there was always draft day for comic relief ...

PD I think there is a sitcom waiting with Peaches and her son on Oprano!!

I think he is a little optimistic about Vick. Vick is an awesome talent, but hard to surive in NFL as a running QB.

The original quotes when I first posted said 8-10 weeks. More optimstic reports are coming out after the game that say 6 and it looks like he definitely will NOT require surgery. Better guestimates will be out after further examinations tomorrow.

The real recovery time is likely somewhere in between. Basically same injury McNabb had last season, and he returned in 8 weeks. That would bring Vick back just in time for the Saints game.

The plans really aren't for Vick to be a running QB. It's definitely fun to watch him run as he's often the fastest man on the field. But the Falcons have been working hard on making him a better pocket passer. He's so fast that a lot of people overlook the cannon he has for an arm. If he can adjust his footwork just a bit so he's not always throwing off balance when chased, he's gonna be downright scary.
