Just curious how the Atkins diet is doing for you!

I've been doing my research so once this babe is born I can get on it as soon as I'm ready. :)

Give us an update!

gigi

I am off atkins

when my grandmother went into the hospital I was there for 6 weeeks straight 10 hours a day and couldnt stay on it
(she is MUCH better now and out of the hospital :bjump: :bdance: :cdance: )

BUT while there i read alot about health and diet and have designed a diet for myself that i find to be better and much less restrictive than atkins and much more natural. I also have finally gotten my ass off the couch and into the gym 5 days a week with a pretty hardcore workout 2 1/2 hours mon,wed and fri and 1 1/2 on the off days

:okthumb:

Voo

I WISH I had lived in jackson hole. Im an old ski bum from my pre porn days

Killington Vt was my haunt.

Gigi, I started Atkins a week ago. I lost 5 pounds, but they were the 5 pounds I put on the 3 days before I started when I ate a few biscuits, some burgers and some sweets in preparation :headwall:

Plus I'm PMSing right now and I'm in a foul mood. <_<

I know I'll not be able to STAY on Atkins because it's just too strict. My plan was to do Atkins for a month, then head over to The Zone. But The Zone confuses me with all it's little blocks and big blocks. :(

Then I ran across the South Beach Diet. I've been reading up on my Lo-carb message board (yes - they're there - about a million of them, lol!) and people really seem to like it. It's much less restrictive and it's something that you can do forever whereas Atkins, to me....not so much. They have a website, natch, http://www.southbeachdiet.com with some info on it.

My brother send me disk of pictures from Easter and Father's Day. OMG. I printed them and put them on my fridge. Yuck!!!!! :barfon:

If your interested in Atkins, have a look at http://www.pictureofhealth.com.au

Its a site Im involved in - whole thing is forum and products for Atkins diet...

I lost 30kgs in around 8 months.

Your best expectation would be 1-2kgs a week weight loss.

Thanks for the update Forest!

So glad your grandmother is doing better now!! In a situation like that, it's always hard to stay on a diet as limited as Atkins for sure.

Glad you found something you are comfortable with! Please keep us posted!

Peaches!
Great link! That diet sounds alot like what I had in mind. Like you, I find atkins very restrictive....enough that I'd probably falter somewhere along the line. I also agree with eating the 'right' kind of carbs (high fiber...no white flour etc...)

I'm seriously considering that diet now....lol....please keep us posted with an update!

Thanksf or the link Angus...I'll check it out! :)

I can vouch for that!!

I remember seeing you a few months after you'd started it and we were all amazed ...

You looked like you were half the size

Peaches, a low carb diet is enough to show significant results if you find atkins too restricting ... I don't eat many carbs at all these days except for rice & potato ... am having a lot of trouble putting weight ON with this diet so surely its got to work the other way ;-)

There's a cure for that. GonZo bought me one of the Godiva Souffle's at Mortons the other night, and it really helped with my PMS and generally improved my disposition.

He told me it was carb free, but I think he might've been lying.

He also says the doughnuts at Krispy Kreme are carb free as long as you eat them while they're still hot...the carbs dont bond to the doughnut until they cool.

I can't remember (which is amazing since I have been on just about every diet in America from about age 10) but is food optimising talked about in the States at all? One of the biggest diet/slimming chains in the UK is Slimming World and it is the basis of their system. I've found it to be almost a marriage between Atkins and WW. I lost 30lbs on it last year but fell off it because <insert lame excuse here>. My husband and I are going back on it tomorrow. Doing the shopping for it today. He has never before agreed to go on a diet with me so hopefully that will help. He is diabetic so it isn't like he couldn't use it and it is a pain to cook essentially two meals.

Anyway, the main gist is that you have two types of days - red days and green days. On the red days meat makes up the majority of your diet and you can have all the lean meat you want in a day. That means, you can cut off the fat off bacon (easier in the UK where most bacon isn't streaky) and it is a free food. On the green day grains and potato make up most of your diet. So, that is when you can fill up on pasta, rice, spuds. On both days most veg (exceptions being corn and spuds which are not free on red days) and fruit (in whole form..juice has to be counted) are free.

http://www.slimming-world.co.uk is the website but not sure if there is something similar in the States.

congratulations forest. you know my name. everyone i am sure is really impressed. really really impressed. continuing to post my name is a step up for you... one step above "i know you are, but what am i" - i am at tearing up when i think of the progress you have made.

being or not being a conformist implys that you posses at a minimum, the necessary intelligence to understand and comprehend people, behaviors and events around you... or that you have at least some primative ability for cognative reason and are cabable of deciding for yourself if following the behavior of others is a good or bad behavior. It also means that you would have to be able to recognize your own limitations - and when it may or may not be beneficial for you to just run with the pack to decrease the danger you represent to yourself.

we ran some tests on you, based on the following data:

1) your absurd board behavior,
2) your inability to understand when you are making an ass out of yourself,
3) your persistence in punishing yourself by taunting the wrong people
4) your countless, idiotic and unproven claims of success and fortune
5) your retarded notion that "there is no such thing as bad publicity" while ignoring the seeminly obvious fact that there is a difference between everyone "saying your name" and everyone saying your name followed by "...is a hopeless idiot"

here is where our data put you on the curve....

better luck next time.
