We were just interview for TechTV for my new site www.othersex.com . It goes beyond personals and offers an entire online BDSM/Fetish community. I talked about here for a few months. Consumers are looking for more interaction, better value and information. Even when it comes to sex. You’ll always have your wankers who like looking at pictures and videos but the broad market is one more personally based. Even the wankers will leave your site and go to alt.com or match.com and try to hook up with live body or at least someone who will interact with them.

Online dating is huge. It’s just hard to get a site going. It takes time to seed the system and make it a site that people want to return to. Other Sex has free registration and almost everything is free right now. In a month, without any promotions other then my other sites, we had over 600 people register. I’ve hired well known scene writers and full time staff. I’ll be investing with no profit for at least another 6 months. I didn’t expect to put it up and start making money right away.

By the end of the year it will feature point to point cams where users can search a directory of like minds, already on the site and chat. That will become a premium service for those who want it. I’m just investigating the technology right now?

Anyone know someone that has an Ifriends type of script available for a site?

Later I'd consider the Cam-performer things since I know tons of people who have cams at home & don't want to work in a studio. I think there's two models here- a studio that can offer quality via control and the model that is like Ifriends. Maybe it’s not the best quality but there are those consumers who prefer the amateur platform.

I’m interested more in hooking up people who want to talk for free to each other and perhaps offering a live show daily for a flat rate.

Im using it. Its pretty solid for what they give you and the guy Vern that wrote it is an old BBSer kinda guy from when I got back in the biz. So I like doing biz with the old timers -- that way we can all take Geritol shooters together hahah...

I will tell you that the way it comes out of the box is not acceptable to market properly. Youd best have yourself an ASP programmer on staff to customize the bitch.

We like it for what we've done with it. However we bought it right as we got involved in a DRM solution for another customer and thats taken up a lot of our time. Hit me on ICQ if you want to know more specifics.

6 months ago I agreed that studio live were superior to home live. After all you have more control not only over equipment hardware, line connections, etc. but over what the performance of the girls… lol- or you should anyhow. I’ve watched many studio operations and to be honest with you most suck. Yea, they have a few girls that are hotties but the lie around wasting time just as much as they would be at home.

Today, after much research, I’m seeing solutions that make more sense on having a girl work at home. After all it reduces your overhead. I know at least a dozen women who would be great at niche but the idea of working in a studio makes their stomachs stir. After all, why should they? I’m really just opening this up for debate because I know a few of you here are doing live studios.

Then again a studio could be a house set up with one or two cams and the girls still running the show, right? So why wouldn’t you require a girl to 1) already have DSL 2) certain hardware requirements 3) offer a higher payout to girls who own the right hardware- lower for the first 8 months, etc. to girls who did not.

I also think that the girls working at home successfully, out promoting their shit, are far more serious as performers. The problem is that the programs out there are over saturated and there’s not enough traffic to go around… or is there?

Colin? Forrest? Gonzo are you actually running a live cam platform or just involved in the technical end?

Its a live cam platform. We have the facilities for a studio but I dont think that Moesha that runs the security desk would understand why me the tech guy has a steady flurry of women coming in to this office both on and off hours every day of the week and around the clock. As you all well know they come dressed for work so that means they might ride Marta to the machine down here dressed in something that doesnt even try to cover her ass let alone keep from showing a little boo hair as well.

We opted to start building this slowly allowing them to preform from home.
I wont get into the problems that come with the work at home girl...but one thing is for sure...I have a lot more control over those problems than explaining to the local water company why Ive got nekkid ass putting on a show in the same space that they are collecting water bills from. I couldn't say even 1/2 of what JR could on this subject nor as well. Suffice it to say that in my opinion either is a viable option if done right. Each has their particular pros and cons. There's a lot of overhead in having girls at home too. Look at what the amateur companies are paying out.

Firecracker definitely works, I believe that is actually what is at the core of IFriends, though their's is obviously highly customized.

My big bitch is that it is Microsoft based, which makes hosting and support a bitch. Not all of us are like GonZo and have a data center across the hall from our office. It's a very custom app, so you're looking at colo and doing your own geek work.

Either that or use my plan of talking GonZo into letting me play with his toys.

What I’m looking for right now is pretty simple. I want to allow users to view a directory of people logged on, see profiles and allow them to connect to each other. I’ll charge a monthly fee for this.
