I'd like to see solid proof of this.....where are the TV ratings we can look at?

I just can't see this.....

If this were true...we'd have NBL not NHL....it's alllll about the money. ;)

http://www.usatoday.com/sports/hockey/nhl/...-finances_x.htm

"Although the NHL plays in the winter, when overall TV viewing is high, its national TV ratings hover near zero. ESPN cut back on some early-season games, got more local TV blackouts and began carrying simultaneous games aired regionally — all factors that should help ratings. And ratings are up 7%, to 0.59% of U.S. cable households."

http://www.post-gazette.com/sports/columni...31neogenep2.asp

"In any event, it has further come to my attention that the NHL at its All-Star break is the partially willful recipient of all kinds of advice on what it needs to bring TV ratings up and player salaries down, thereby assuring its very existence beyond the Bush administration, and to move out of 18th place on the list of Americans' favorite sports behind, what, celebrity cat chasing."

hahahahahahahah

now dont get me wrong I am a DIE HARD Rangers Fan and have Drank? Drunk? Champagne out the Stanley Cup ( a friend was manageing a Bar in NYC when they won they cup. Each team memer gets the cup for a day. couple of the guys brought it in. The NHL said when they got the cup back from the rangers It was in the WORST condition then in any other year GOOO NY'ers!!!:wnw: :rokk: )

but the US has more interest overall in the WNBA then in the NHL

sad

it's funny how different Canadians and Americans view hockey ....over here in Toronto, hockey is almost a religion for most fans...young, old, male or female...everything stops when it comes to hockey...but the thing over here is that alot of us grew up watching it with our fathers and uncles or brothers. Plus many of us grew up with the guys who are playing now...I don't know...it is a Canadian sport....I mean hockey night in Canada has been around for ever! :rokk:

cmexxx 03-18-2003 06:51 PM

i fucking love hockey... where is no way bowling can get better ratings... ;)

I am still trying to find out how my son, who was born and lived his entire life in GA, where there are maybe 3 places in a 200 mile radius that even have ICE, where we just recently even GOT a hockey team, has been a hockey fan since he was a little kid.

When he was around 8, he saved all his money and bought a Mario Lemieux Penguins jersey and didn't fit into it until he was around 15, lol!

Evil Chris 03-19-2003 01:49 PM

Mutt! Break out the hockey pool software... :D

It appears Yahoo won't be offering a playoff hockey pool this year.
Too bad... their pool is one of the best I've used.

Forest 03-19-2003 05:04 PM
