What are the crowds like this year?

I heard crowds were down last year, are they down again this tear?

I even looked at hotels on http://www.turbotrip.com/res/rfp/rfqa2.csearch and the results are coming back with rooms available for tomorrow, Monday and Sunday

I lost my hookup that usually supplied me good ones.

I ordered one last year from kingcake.com and it was the crappiest cake I ever had.

Vick, I am not there, first time in 3 years... I think that there is a certain part of the US population that isn't interested in being in crowded spaces right now, the terrorist threat level was pretty high until a couple of days ago... and hotels are pretty expensive down there during mardi gras, and the economy isn't as good as it use to be, ya know?

VegasLee is down there filming and having fun, I am sure. :-)

Alex - I have found an ok hotel in the Quarter for 145/125 a night for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday so the prces aren't bad, also found airfare

Could you tell me if you would please if you remeber when the streets are cleared on Tuesday night at midnight if everything, even the bars off Bourbon close then?

Have always avoided Mardi Gras in New Orleans due to crazy crowds but this might be a great opportunity for me to see Mardi Gras in New Orleans when it isn't crazy crowded

Vick, they certainly do their damndest to clean the quarter out at Midnight Tuesday... it is like the apocolypse... waves of jesus freaks, cops, street cleaners, sometimes "spray cleaners", etc... I am not sure if the bars close, but it is my impression that things really do die off REAL fast.

If you have never seen the end of Mardi Gras on Bourbon street, it is something you will remember forever... it's almost the most fun :-)
