Daniel Libeskind has been named the architect of the new WTC site design.
The spire will make the hallmark building of the design 1,776 feet tall. Can't forget that number. The tallest building in the world will once again be in New York. Go here and click "Interactive: The winning plan" to see a nice model of the new skyline. http://www.cnn.com/2003/US/Northeast/02/27...tect/index.html Make sure to check out "VIEW 2" Last edited by Colin at Feb 27 2003, 08:12 AM |

A good friend of mine in on the THINK team that lost and I hear the Libeskind design won because it can be built in stages, and the towers come last,
but they don't really intend on building so much space in lower manhattan, esp tall towers. So the design is there to placate the public. bummer. |
Hard to tell by the rendering..... but I like the 1776 referance!
