Test drove an Infiniti FX45 the other night...that's one really cool ride if you need some sort of hybrid between SUV, Luxury and Sportscar. Tons of technogeek features in it, and moves EXTREMELY well for a quasi-SUV.

Why oh Why won't Nissan make an SUV with a 3rd row seat and true 4WD??! The Murano/FX45 would have been the perfect opportunity and they blew it. :(
Did you test drive it w/ the upgraded cruise control? With most of my driving on 575, that looks like a really nifty option! :rokk:[/b][/quote]
Yeah, the one I drove had the "tech package", so it had pretty much everything. The intelligent cruise control is a handy feature. However, the feature in this one that I hadn't seen before that really impressed me is the backup camera. When you throw it in reverse, the navigation screen gives you a video feed from a camera in the tailgate. Now, although I've seen that before, what I like about this one is it also gives you two lines on the screen to project where the vehicle will go based on how the wheels are currently cut....and it gives you a distance to the nearest object behind the vehicle that counts down as you back up. That would be extremely handy for backing into tight spaces.
You're right though, it's designed for running up and down the interstate primarily, not mud bogging. It would be ok on snow and ice. And it has enough ground clearance to be ok on unpaved, but relatively well maintained roads and trails. You wouldn't wanna put it in deep mud or climb boulders though. But it hauls major ass for an SUV on dry pavement!
If you want a true mountain goat of a vehicle that'll go anywhere and still have luxury, it's tough to beat a Range Rover. Though in that price range a Hummer H1 starts to tempt me.
I haven't really looked at one to see how tough it is, but that Lexus GX470 also has good specs that would suggest it would actually fair well off the pavement.
I'm not buying either anytime soon, but that doesn't keep me from test driving 'em just for giggles....
