Well, maybe they were empty ;-)
Anyway --- U.N. weapons inspectors found 11 empty chemical warheads and another one that is still being evaluated, according to a U.N. spokesman, who said the warheads were regarded to be in "excellent condition." NEWS AT 11. Last edited by Colin at Jan 16 2003, 02:46 PM |
Colin, one way or another, it's going to be a war...

What kind of burns me up is that they are already having anti-war protests and anti-war course studies flooding the US public schools. I'm not a war-monger, nor am I for just diving into a war as often as we seem to do - but I think there's something to be said for the supporting of your troops, support of your country - and not teaching another generation to treat our vets who return home from whatever war as murders and baby killers. I think kids need to be educated on the realities of the tragedy of war (the neighbor kids were outside yesterday saying they were hoping for a draft so they could go to war and kill some "brown people" - how awful is that?!?) but they also need to understand the necessity for it sometimes as well. It's a tough subject - but if they are going to tackle it in any way, it should be tackled from all angles in a well-rounded fashion. I would have thought we would have learned and grown from our previous mistakes. :grrr: |

DV[/b][/quote] i think the arguement is that he is already in non-compliance regardless. he has been for 12 years. this time, he submitted a declaration of all documentation, inventories, records of destruction of weapons and disposal etc, to the UN that was incomplete and basically the same info as he gave them the first time. That was in effect, his last chance and he fucked it up. the inspection team and the UN has already stated this to be fact. the guy would be dead already if he was not hiding in a bunker under the Al Rashid hotel which was full of BBC, CNN and other foreign journalists. Next time, they should just aim for the Western anti war protestors who went there, they will most likely kill Saddam. I think Sean Penn for Saddam is a good trade... except Saddam probably makes better movies. |
I agree that the war is almost inevitable. My big fear is what Saddam will do on his way out. I'm thinking he'll try to outdo the damage he caused in Kuwait on his way out of there, by tenfold. Probably he'd start by launching anything he has left at Isreal, and then light all of Iraq's oil fields on fire, dump a few million barrels into the ocean, and run like hell.

What the big media downplayed...
The inspectors were totally denied access to the house of one of Saddam's scientists. They were forced to wait outside for whatever was brought out. Can we say, "Material Breach!"? |
