Sebastian Bach is as much Jesus as I am Mao Tse Dun.
If real Jesus was as much self indulgent as Bach made him look, we'd NEVER havd Chrisitianity in the first place. Lack of voice for the part didn't help him either. Wrong pauses, wrong accents....I don't know how he fares in rock, but Broadway is not for him yet... Magdalena and Judas were very good, in this particular order. If you know the original version as well as I do, you'd be disapointed. on the 10 points scale I give it 6.5: 3 for performance, 7 for choreography/stage effects/light and 10 for music the present cast haven't re-write, Thanks God! ;-))) |
or in a nutshell , they were right to crucify him :)
|
Nick, LL won't let me lie,
I asked her after his second song: "don't you think he is ready for crucifiction NOW"? ;-))) |
ahahahahahahahahaha .Who was the singer?
I saw it in London maybe 10 yrs ago it was excellent. I have a feeling it was starring Paul Nicholas. So was Phanthom of the Opera despite the fact it starred Frank Spencer (Michael Crawford) :) I kept waiting for him to say "oooohhh its done a woopsy" ;) |
Hahahahaha....
Yes it's true, Serge started asking for the crucifixtion very early in the performance. The music and production was wonderfully done, but Sebastian Bach (former lead singer of the 80ies metal band Skid Row, doesn't have the voice or theatrical presence to step out of rock star mode into Broadway actor. His "Rock Star Jesus" didn't move me at all, except to pray like Serge for his early demise. Bach said recently: "I can either throw myself into a bottle or sing the part of Jesus....." . |

I caught the show in Vegas and I actually liked Bach's interpretation of Rock Jesus....
maybe because to me it was almost a bit blasphemous and blasphemy makes me um...excited ;))) |

you liked it because you probably weren't born when ORIGINAL show went live with ORIGINAL cast and... THAT was almost blasphemous, now a days even Pope attended JC supertar performanvce 2 years ago ;-)) I hate to ruin your wet dream, but today it's a MAIN STREAM! ;-))) |

Mainstream? the world's largets cult leader? yup, I guess he is kind of mainstream these days...I mean with the priests getting more action than rockstars.... |

Serge - thanks for the info. I'm familiar with the original music as one of my neighbors (when I was 10) played the album frequently
Sebastian Bach is a very good vocalist but his range is a little higher than whomever did the part of Jesus originally Sounds like you didn't enjoy Bach's interpretation of the part of Jesus I'll probably still go to see it when the show comes to Baltimore - curiosity factor. Bach was very prominent in the hair band movement of the 80's Serge - you saw Metamorphoses and said it was very good? Looking at it on Playbill it looks very interesting. An old friend of mine has moved to Manhattan and invited me to come up for a few days and Metamorphoses looks like something to see while I'm there |
I wonder how Lemmy would interpret the role of Jesus Christ.............

************************************************** on 10 point scale: LL - 8.5 Em - 8.5 my daughter - 7 (but she liked RENT, so she doesn't count ;-) my father - 9 me - 8.5 Director won Tony Award for it, the whole performance takes place in...the pool of water. JC is worth watching it, the music alone is worth it and YES, the original Jesus had much lower voice, Deep Purple's Ian Gillan was the original sound track performer. |
