Adult Blog Writing Services; Feedback appreciated

I've been researching and poking around the adult community for about 6 months and out of all the boards this one seems the most serious about business and with the best posts. So if anyone could give me some feed back I'd appreciate it.

I recently finished law school (haven't taken bar) and decided to make some money in the mean time writing blog posts. So if anyone could give me input about pricing or feedback on my samples I would appreciate it. Like anything I'm sure there's plenty of 'noobie hazing' so I guess those folks can have their go also.

I put up a quick blog with some samples.

Thanks in advance for any input.

I wondered where the traffic leak was with thumblogger and I see they are sending your traffic to AFF.

Unreal.

I've done enough research to know that AFF is shady as fuck and its certainly something I'm not pleased with. Though I just needed something quick I could throw some samples up at. Can anyone give me some feedback?

Spell check! I'm not usually a stickler on the topic, but since this is a writing for hire scenario it's pertinent here. I noticed two typos with just a quick scan on your samples.

Re: Adult Blog Writing Services; Feedback appreciated

I second Toby - I've found a few mis-spelt words:

-- Sample of my Work - Harcore,
-- in the teen sample: "then slips of those sexy little girl panties..."
-- and in your initial pitch, you've got "Unforuntately."

Which is...

Unfortunate.

Thanks Toby...I didn't want to be the nit-picker that always says that.

And after reading it, I'm wondering about being a lawyer?
:yowsa:

But the industry needs a few more reasonably priced attornies......

Trust me, I know I'm an editing nazi. The blog thing didn't have a spell check, and I wanted to get it up, see if I could get a quick job so I can get the ball rolling on my personal blogs. When I do work for people I'm going to do it in word and spell check. When you have to draft 25 page legal motions and briefs and they take one point per error it gets you into being nit picky. I appreciate all the feedback.

In response to my one post, that was my big question, what should I charge and what lots can I do it in. I edit and reread them and try to keep them cogent and having a 'central topic' and I can bang out 3-4 an hour. So what would be a good going rate, supposing of course they are all edit free. Also what size batches should I offer my services in? One last note, obviously the first person who takes a chance with me I'm going to give a good break on price until I can get some references and a reputation for being legit. So obviously at first I'll work real cheap, but once that happens what should I charge. Thanks.

Thats a tough question as what to charge.
Good luck in carving out your own business with this.
I think its a good service to offer.

I remember hanging with Jackie Susann back in the mid sixties when she was working on Valley of The Dolls. She pulled in some serious coin for that shit, especially when they made the movie.

BTW, I was up for the roll of Tony Polar but they gave it to some dude named Tony Scotti. "Who the fuck is Tony Scotti" you ask? . . .

Exactly! mt goddamn point!

Everybody know Buckwheat! And I could sing better than that Cracka too!

There are several mainstream article sites that can give you a reference point for what to charge. For example- http://www.need-an-article.net/ is a great service. They generally charge anywhere from $8-14 depending on the size of the article.

Re: Adult Blog Writing Services; Feedback appreciated

Let's do this, if someone wants to bite the bullet, I'll do ten blog posts, average of 200 words each (total word count will thus be 2000, some under, some over but all we be with 20 words of the same size, and the total package will have a minimum 2000 words) for 20 bucks. I'll do the work upfront. You like the stuff, you keep it and use it and pay me, and provide me with references until I get some more work under my belt. You don't like the posts, no problem, you don't use them, and I use them as samples. Looking for someone with a decent rep and someone honest.

I will take that deal!
Hit me up on ICQ and I will give you my number.

Re: Adult Blog Writing Services; Feedback appreciated

I can tell you on another forum with a huge blogging section the going rate seems to be $2 per 100-200 word posts.

I only like 2-3 sentences and have been paying around $1 per post. You don't have to put up any photos with me, either, they are there so you can write the post to the photos I have up.

I can definitely use another blog writer as well as a review writer.

As for my rep, well, I've had websites up since 1994 and no one can say I've never paid them, even when their work sucked. And I guess a few people here should be able to vouch for me :)

Wow, must say I'm impressed with ya'lls forum here. I got good advice. This place is a lot better than the zoo. Had a good chat with shelellee (sp?), looks like shes got some work for me, look forward to hearing back from her.

Pam I'm flexible and I'll do those shorter ones for a buck a piece or $2 for 150-200 words. Hit me up on ICQ 412-842-608.

pam 02-06-2008 05:28 PM

Re: Adult Blog Writing Services; Feedback appreciated

I don't use ICQ -- have an email? If this works out you could have a part-time job just from me :)

BTW, hope you're famiiar with the hairy niche and all the related microniches, as that's what most of my sites consist of (though I do have a new network of microniche and microfetish sites about to launch, non-hairy)

I know of the hairy niche. I'm sure if I can see some samples of 'good' work I can figure out the various 'things' people fixate on or what gets the screws turning. Either way I'll have some sample work for you to check it and see if you are interested.

Look forward to hearing from ya.

wow, blog writing isn't near as profitable as it was a year ago...LOL

I remember having a hard time finding quality posts for under $5, now they are going for $2???

jesus!

you seriously have to like in a third world nation or be the most creative spontaneous writer in the world to make that rate work

I'll write a quality page on just about any topic for $50.

That's a business lesson I learned from my old man. If you look to be the cheapest, you're going to have more work than you can do and spend all of your time dealing with cheap asses who want as much as they can get for as little as they can possibly pay.

Price yourself based on quality, and do quality work, and you get the people who dont care about money they just want the job done correctly. You work less, and your clients aren't near as much of a pain in the ass.

Re: Adult Blog Writing Services; Feedback appreciated

I just finished writing ten posts for Pam's blog and if she's pleased and gets back to me I will finish the rest of the blog.

I'm not going to continue to offer my services this cheap. I realize that just showing up on this forum though I need to establish myself as trustworthy and legit.

In response to the one post I am pretty spontaneous and quick, thats how I can make it work.

Anyone else looking for some work done tonight?

What was the name of Joes company out in Las Vegas?
Very nice guy. Quality work but he moved from a rural setting to Vegas and ran this cheap deal on making galleriews several years ago.

THe poor guy had money prepaid falling from the sky and a newly found Las VEgas that called to him.

He ended up disappearing with a lot of peopls money. Im not sure what exactly happened but he was a very nice guy and he fell into this trap.

Thats why I told you earlier. Its a very tough call on pricing.

As for both the ladies interested in your services I can vouch for both personally. Pam has been around for years and is honest and fair.

Shellee has several people working for her now on different projects and one of my newest friends. Working for either of them should prove to be fruitful.

Welcome to Oprano.

Morning folks. Pam I sent you an email, check it out and let me know what you think. If you like the ten I did I can have the rest finished today no problem. Jace I will be hitting you up momentarily.

As for everyone else I'm going to try to get some work done the next couple of days and then I'm going to reprice everything. It'll still be a deal but I'm most concerned with gaining credibility right now.

In response to the legal writing theres a couple of issues I would need to talk to you about. There are some ethical issues there, and while I have my J.D. I'm not liscensed yet so if I were publishing legal articles my research would need to be checked and done under the supervision of someone liscensed. I don't mind doing legal research but I'm sorry but it won't be at $20 per 2k words. But we may be able to work something out.

One last quick question. Yesterday I went ahead and set up a pay pal account. I was told that pay pal cannot be used for adult. The reason I did pay pal is that I can transfer the funds over to my checking account and withdraw them. Can I do that with epassporte? I don't do a ton of shopping online so what is the cheapest way to get paid for my services so I can convert it to cash for shit like gas and groceries?

pam 02-07-2008 10:38 AM

Re: Adult Blog Writing Services; Feedback appreciated

I checked a few posts and they were fine.

As far as ePassporte, for $35 per year you get a plastic card you can use at any ATM and withdraw your funds for a $2 charge. You can also tranfer your funds to your bank account if you are in the USA and again, $2 per pop.

Not true-

Paypal can be now used for durable goods, but not adult subscription like services.
However, what you are doing would probably be "acceptable." As you are providing a writing service, B to B.
Not really the same thing as what they don't want to deal with.
And Paypal will provide you a debit/credit card as well.

"Cheapest" way to get paid is for people to send you a check/money order....

Great thread. My hat is off to all of you.

I guess I should be ashamed that there are people on here starting a new lucrative career while others are idle trying to hand out advice while havng to lay off their webmaster, designer and studio manager.

Im not.

Thanks gonzo, out of all the adult webmaster boards out here, the community you have here is peerless in the amount of help and the professionalism of the people I have worked with so far.

I am currently waiting for Jace to get back to me, and about finished with the work Pam has given me so far so I have this evening free to do work. Apparently I have to have 30 bucks in my account to set up epassporte. So if someone would like my services this evenign it would need to be paypal.

I've only hired people in the USA and have been happy with the results I've gotten.

Prices have come way down and people are taking advantage of it. I've seen people who claim to make lots of money a year from their websites begin to whore themselves out for $2 a post. When I ran a text writing/proofreading service I was fair but not cheap.

I think I'd burn out of it after a while. I know what it's like writing for my own stuff and there are just so many ways you can describe a hairy bush!

Still, at $2 a post, if it takes you 2 minutes to bang it out .... $60 an hour ain't too shabby for someone just starting out.

I am a licensed attorney in California and have been for more than a decade.

I have a small boutique firm that specializes in adult, and yes you can write legal articles with a JD. Most of the law review articles you see cited in cases are written by law students. Many of the opinions themselves are written by law students. Law clerks do most of the grunt work of the Judges.

I understand the pricing structure would be different.

Honestly, if you want to take the bar and pass, legal writing is the best practice you will have to do so.

Let me know.

Re: Adult Blog Writing Services; Feedback appreciated

Cool sounds good. It's just that I'm sure as you know good legal writing, even if for forter articles takes a decent amount of time just orienting oneself with the material, case law, and statutes, and that would need to be figured into the rate. Hit me up in ICQ at 412-842-608 and we'll see if we can work something out. I currently live 30 seconds from one of the better law libraries in Florida so research materials will not be an issue.

I understand about all that stuff with law review articles and stuff, but that is all done under academic supervision. I have my character and fitness coming up and you know rigorous that is and I wouldn't want to do anything at all that had the possibility of being interpretted as practicing without a liscense. So long as I am under your direct supervision I don't have a problem at all.

My background is transactional with a good amount of code and statutory law so I'm sure I can do it. I just know that even for 500 word article unless its interpretting a decision or a statute, such as synthesising several cases or comparing differences in Fed Circuit Courts I am looking at atleast 2 hours of research before I put the proverbial pen to paper. But lets see if we can't work something out. It's certainly a subject that I find engaging so I know the work wouldn't be as miserable as some kinds of legal research can be.

I look forward to seeing if we can put something together.
