Do You Produce Video Content? How to make more money.

You have gone to the expense of producing and spent time
editing your video content and you now have the videos
in your members area of your website.
Now you can make some more money with your content.

Repackage your content onto DVD.

Iam not talking about your new content, but your archive content.
Take your archive content and produce a DVD that can then be
sold via retail outlets in Europe and the US.
Generate online sales worldwide.
Sell your DVD via your own site and your affiliates via download to own.
In some case your DVD maybe suitable for the hotel movie marketplace.

Why Repackage?

Why not if you can promote your site via your DVD.
Distributors are looking for new amateur DVD content to sell.
More and more larger adult websites are repackaging content for DVD.
You can make more money with your content.

How do I get started?

Your video clips need to be a minimum of 3 mins and you can then edit
your clips together to produce a 60 minute or 90 minute Compilation DVD.
When editing your DVD make sure you heavily promote your website
using extras on the DVD such as picture sets and video tours of your site.
The Box art for your DVD needs to be created using screen shots from the content on the DVD.
We can arrange for editing and/or box art creation.

Where will your DVD be distributed?

Retail outlets in Europe and the US.
Online via the affiliates of the distribtuors in Europe and the US.
These distributors have thousands of affiliates.
Download to own via your own site and your affiliates.
Download to own via our own site.

What will the distribution deal be?

The European and US distributors will have the rights to distribute
your DVD via retail outlets and online making full use of their affiliate networks.
You will retain the rights for download to own via your own site
and your affiliate network.
This is so your members can purchase the DVD directly from you.
We can supply the download to own software and payment systems.

What money can I expect to make?

Some distributors will pay a one-off license fee for retail and online sales rights.
Some distributors will pay a smaller license fee and royalties for each DVD unit sold.
Remember, distributors will have DVD duplication costs in both cases.

Supplying hotels with movies is different again.
Some hotels pay a one-off fee to show a movie for twelve months.
Some hotels pay a set amount per film-per room- per month for an agreed period.

Can you distribute the DVD yourself?

Yes, of course you can.
1.via the download to own method on your site and your affilaite sites.
2.via our download to own site.
3.if you have the time to deal with the many distributors on an individual basis
and you can negotiate a better deal.

What about VOD?

This option should be considered at a later date.
DVD sales produce a greater revenue than VOD, initially.
However once your DVD sales have levelled out via the routes mentioned
then you should offer your DVD to the VOD marketplace.

Some of the larger VOD site now offer a download to own option.

What do we,as a company receive?

We receive a percentage of any deal we agree on your behalf, normally 25% net.

What do you do next?

If you are interested in producing and selling your own DVD then PM me with
your details and we can discuss the proposal in more detail.

Thanks for your time.

Some of the major adult sites have repackaged their content for DVD as they
can see the revenue available.

Gee, so all that philanthropic advice was really just a way to get people to come to you to repackage their content?

I'm shocked - SHOCKED I SAY - that you'd think web distribution makes less sense, in that case.

Although, one does have to wonder how having massive distribution through a world-wide network of sites and users is less cost-efficient than paying to have DVDs printed, shipped, and held in inventory.

Ive left this spam in the main forum for people to judge for themselves.

If you think you can make people more money by repacking on DVDs as opposed to VOD I would disagree.

What magic do you have that Vivid, Wicked and Digital Playground do not?

All have reported DVD sales to be DOWN!

Nice info, but I prefer to work within AEBN's existing video distribution framework. It's easy, and it pays. It just works.

My video sales remain pretty constant. They are down a little because I did not renew a mag deal. However, I am reconsidering that decision and will prolly redo another ad campaign and when that is up an running, sales are great. But that is a specialty market and I do believe that sales over all have got to be hurting in this arena. I saw some great videos in Europe that were going for a couple of bucks. I just can't see a huge profit there. So I too would like to see this magic method.

Its pretty banal spam to post on a board like oprano, but the convo is interesting. So let it ride.

fuck dvd, it is dying, period

3-4 years ago it would have been a SOLID extra revenue stream, but now, no way...unless you are johnny darkko, buttman, etc, you would be lucky to get 400 units out the door

apparently the creator of this article doesn't read the news or online articles, because from what I have been reading dvd sales are down worse than they ever have and are not showing ANY sign up rising

I wouldn't be that down on dvd. I still sell enough to keep my duplicator reasonably busy. I am going to release another one soon and I will let you know how it does. I won't make the 400 mark, but maybe half over a few weeks if it is popular. I still sell vhs as well. Pain in the ass, but some guys will order ten or twelve at a time, so I haven't kicked it to the kerb just yet.

This guy is spamming the boards. No idea why and some of what he's saying doesn't make sense. Who is going to get into the Hotels market up against Private and Wicked, many will only take a softcore version. Some of the big stores will simply not stock a DVD advertising a website. They know where the sales are going and don't want to encourage it.

I have DVDs out there and I can tell you it's getting harder and harder to sell.

Interesting replies.

I do read the inudstry press and I am aware that DVD sales are down in the US, but the US is not the only market.

I never stated that I would produce massive DVD sales.

In Europe you can buy old DVD titles for a few bucks but there is still a thriving online DVD sales market for new titles.

It seems that from some of the replies the DVD market is doomed.

I have to agree, I don't see VOD surviving, people like something the can keep, colect, show off etc. That said it is smarter to go with the popular trend to make current money.

My question along these lines, is where to market VOD and DVD's besides the two already mentioned.

And what sells, what's popular (please, no sex sells, because not all sex sells)

I don't want a fucking product, I want to get off and log off

I hate the dvd boxes and discs I have now as it is, add to that porn dvd's on top of that and I would go crazy

and no, i don't want to "show off" my fucking porn dvd collection...well, unless I have another huge ecstasy party like I did 5-8 years ago, everyone loves porn then!

Of course it does. What planet are you living on? As a matter of fact everything sells. You just have to be good at marketing. If you are not, then that is your problem. Personally, I could sell igloos to Eskimos.

rhetorical, if you can sell igloos to Eskimos, and your so good at sales, then of course anything you want to sell sells, that is just rhetorical.

I'm curious as to why you don't see VOD surviving in the marketplace? Market statistics seem to indicate that it's doing quite well - that the average consumer doesn't necessarily want to show off a collection, but instead prefers to access what is desireable for a given moment/ fancy/ prediliction/ etc, which is serviced by the delivery method you think is dying. I'm also curious as to what you think the audience at large is looking for, if not a way to get in, get off, get out?

Sory for the late reply, life is busy...

I origionaly asked a simple question in line with this thread, where are other simular markets.

rhetorical, You ask who I am. I am a producer who just landed a good backer, hence the reason for my questions.

gonzo, Yes the internet is a fad, and it could die tomarow with some major worm that woips it out, rendering it useless, or by just some new invention. But who cares it is here to make money with, as is VOD, as is DVD, all here today gone tomarow, I am just looking for avenews to make money in Video, which I haven't realisticaly been in before.

LizAEBN, I did look over your tos, didn't like them. Two fold. As a webmaster, I would love to bring VOD to my regulars, but I have no, as in zero, interest in selling random videos. Second as a producer I want a customer to be able to choose my videos. As for why I don't see VOD surviving, standing in the shoes of a consumer, if I like a movie I might want to watch it again, tomarow, next week, next year, but I don't want to have to pay for it again every time I want to watch it. Of course I also want theater quality movies, main stream movies that don't treat me like I'm a flippin virgin. And there is only so many times you can watch Dick bops Jane, it get's old fast.

Hmmm. First off, I apologise for the delay in response - like you, I've been busy and haven't checked the board as much as usual.

And now, down to business ;)
Well, there are a few obvious answers here:
1) As a producer, you can certainly offer your video to your consumers - many studios do exactly that by presenting their content via the customised theatre front. You are, of course, aware, that the theatre can be filtered down to very specific studios/ niches/ stars, et cetera, which allows you the freedom to pick and choose precisely which content you would like to have available.

2) With regard to ownership, you may not be aware that although PPM/ VOD is our most popular option for many viewers due to the fact that often variety is, indeed, the spice of life - we also offer download to own and burnable options for those who prefer to build a personal library of content. This allows your visitor and the eventual viewer the option to try before buying - because we've all been burned by paying for a film that wasn't worth it when we got it home - and leads to a higher level of end user satisfaction.

3) You are preaching to the choir with wanting "theater quality movies" - I've long wanted to see more production value in adult, but I'm sure the studios have their reasons for the method in whcih they produce content. As I am not a studio, I can't speak to those reasons, unfortunately.
