From WEG crew:
The PureCash program is owned in partnership by 2 separate companies. One of those parties has recently decided to leave the industry and focus on their mainstream business interests. We respect their decision and wish them the best of luck with their future endeavors. Due to these circumstances we feel it is best to close the PureCash program. As most of you are aware, we operate the WEGCash.com and G3X.com affiliate programs. We look forward to focusing 100% of our efforts on these 2 programs and building upon the success we achieved during 2004. Existing affiliates will continue to be able to log in and view stats during this wind down period. All existing affiliates should remove any links to PureCash sites by midnight 3/14/2005. All payouts for the remaining unpaid pay periods will be paid according to the regular PureCash payout schedule. This means that payouts for the period ending 2/28/2005 will be made on 3/14/2005 and payouts for period ending 3/14/2005 will be made on 3/28/2005. For affiliates that participating in the recurring programs we will be paying you based upon your average member retention for the last 3 months for any remaining active members. We apologize for the inconvenience this will undoubtedly cause some of you. We look forward to continuing our relationship thru your participation in the WEGCash.com and G3X.com programs. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me at Cory@purecash.com . |
well fancy that.
one more bites el duste. |
why would anyone close down a program when it has active affiliates sending traffic, especially when that company owns several other programs and could easily make it seamless for affiliates to move their traffic into other sites?
Sounds like 1 big scam to steal traffic of affiliates who don't go back and update sites often. I'd expect more from WEG, but since a certain someone has been running the program its certainly taken a downward turn. So where's the traffic from affiliates going to be redirected and who is going to get those signups? My advice to affiliates ... don't rely on programs with FHG's ... cause 'free' usually just means 'pay later'. |
is this other crew selling off everything?
I may be interested in a few things, hit up my icq below if you are... |
Best of luck to Mike Ai, and sorry to see this happen..
I agree so much better could have been for purecash. I will refrain from bashing anyone today as I am in a good moood. But I agree wit hCJ something smells stinky in denmark!!!!! |

i have free hosted galleries, and i certainly am not going to pass costs on to anyone. Secondly I am a sexy bastard. So don't go there. (hi CJ! jackie says hi, shes off to UK for 2 weeks tomorrow) |
CJ - I think you may be a little misdirected on this one
Think about who made the post in this thread, can you think of anyone with more scruples that was in this business? What's a program to do when it decides to close it's doors? Not make an announcement and fuck everyone? Or make the announcement, give a time table, let affiliates know how, when and what for they will be paid and ask affiliates to remove links to the program Yes you have some obligation to affiliates and looks like (to me) that Pure Cash is meeting these obligations |
I agree, Vick. Michael's made no secret of the fact that he's wanted out of the business for awhile. His other option could have been to just shut the doors and forget about a winding down period.
|
Thanks, Vick :) Obviously we wanted to do what was fair to the webmasters as well as make a good decision businesswise for us. I think we did both.
|
My former partners at WEG thought it would be best to wind it down this way. There are many reasons why it makes sense, I will leave it up to them to explain why. I am comfortable with their decision, and think the wind down period is extremely fair.

I was glad not to be there. I did miss seeing my friends, and of course Vegas. I will make up for it, I am heading to Sin City this month for a blowout celebration! |

hmmmm....Nick and Gonzo bought Oprano and quadruppled the business,
and this si all I have to say about that ;) MikeAI, you have become a typical American farmer, you are paid not to grow ;) |
i seriously doubt that Mike is trying to profit from the situation at affiliates expense. protecting the affiliates and the traffic means continuing the sites, updating the sites, providing support and so on and so on and so on. that has to be done by someone.
i wish him luck and he has never been anything but a stand up guy in this business and his word should be good enough for anyone. |
I never said anything about Mike trying to do the wrong thing by affiliates. He's made no secret he's been trying to get out of the biz for months. Otherwise, why would he have merged his program in with WEG's suite of programs? It was obviously an exit strategy that made perfect sense.
So ... where is the traffic going to be directed that belongs to affiliates who don't update their linking codes in the next 13 days? Will the traffic be redirected to a WEG site or program? Being that I have referred people to the PureCash program, I think its a reasonable question to ask and have answered - without deferring the answer with jokes. |
all the traffic is going to the jews, THE JEWS!
:agrin: |

As far as the future traffic which is your current question, if you email cory@purecash.com with your user name for PureCash and the link to a location where you would like all of the traffic from your account redirected to, we will be happy to set that up for you. We will redirect your traffic for a period of 90 days from 3/14/2005 which will give you ample time to track down any remaining codes. There are a large number of quality programs that I'm sure would be more than happy to have the traffic, http://www.silvercash.com and http://www.topbucks.com come to mind. Of course we would be very pleased to have the traffic as well :) Again, I think we've done every thing possible to make this as painless as we can. If you disagree, then I'm sorry. Edited to add - I see you did ask this question before and I apologize for inferring that you didn't. Now you have the answer :) |
Sorry to see Purecash going down this path -- It had great sites with a lot of exclusive content!
Congrats to MikeAI for moving forward in mainstream! |
SCash didnt make it in the GBU top 20 but TopBucks did.

I dunno, I only know "KNOWN"
like General ;) but... he'd never say that ;) |
Too bad it couldn't be sold or something. Oh well.
|
Hmmmm. I'm confused.
The people who own WEG Cash own a part of PureCash, right? So why will my minute Pure Cash traffic join what I'm sending to Making Bank, Big Players, et al. in the black hole of the dearly departed, after 19 days or 109 days? Now ... before the calvary jumps in here to defend someone else who isn't being attacked - I am not alleging anyone is doing anything they don't have the right to do. I am perfectly capable of reading the TOS. |
PD, it's late and I'm not completely sure what you're asking :(
|
Tact has never been my strong suite so I will again refrain from commenting as I wouldwant to out of respect for someone I like , other than to say, Mike spoke on it so I am satisfied with that, as it is his desicion on how or what to do to proceed or not .
I do wonder why, as does everyone, ( even the ones not saying it) why it did not go for sale as pushpills has eluded too. and that is not my concern for the affiliates,as I do not believe for one second MikeAI would have ever done anything to put people that he did business with in a bad situation willingly. but rather My concern is for Mike and how he was treated in this deal. I know what my thoughts on the subject are, and I dont give a fuck who trys to sugar coat it . |
Peaches ... will send you a PM in the morning.
And for the record ... the traffic I send to PureCash isn't significant atm even to me, and my total annual traffic figures probably wouldn't impress anyone on this board if it were monthly. I am not alleging that anyone is doing anything wrong, particularly MikeAI. If you want, you can blame me for the demise of PureCash, having just ordered a whopping nine galleries from Forest - who proved again that he rocks by being so cooperative and reasonable about getting them redesigned for other sponsors. |

But I think the question he's asking, and no doubt on other's minds as well, is why not just absorb it into WEG? Even if killing the sites and tours, merge any accounts that exist in both Pure Cash and WEG. If they only have a Pure Cash account, convert it to a WEG account. Then redirect the traffic to a WEG site that is the most similar to the Pure Cash site that is soon to be tits up....or even a random site. My guess is the thing is probably a contractual nightmare, which would also explain why it may not have been sold off outright. |
You gotta do what ya gotta do.
As for FHG's that's what the affiliates WANT Carla. Then the TGP owners unleash the bots and ban folks that change galleries, even if it's to change links to sponsors that decide to change direction. BOL MIke. Hope you do well in the direction you've decided to travel. |
Hellpuppy summed up my question best, and I am concerned for exactly the reason that BillPMB mentioned.
Most of what I've got out there is TGP galleries. I go changing links I run the risk of losing FUTURE traffic, in addition to the existing links. I didn't think of the contractual problems that merely folding program a into program b could present. |

The two programs were indeed a merger between owners of each respective corporate entity: HiRise and Web Entertainment Group. A decision was reached to close the program due to our resources already being devoted to two varying and dynamic programs. The program's profitability was never in question, nor was its quality, it was just a matter of pragmatism on our part. Affiliate programs require a tremendous amount of involved resources, such as webmaster support, programming, design, and fraud to name a few. The sites could not easily be sold, nor instituted underneath of the Weg family of sites. Both options were examined by all parties and it seemed an illogical resolution. The functionality of Wegcash, from all spectrums, created too many points of contention with regards to importing the sites on a multitude of levels. We did not feel it would be possible to reach a satisfactory deal in selling the program, which is just an aspect of business that happens. In terms of selling an affiliate program, things can be more complicated than they seem when the pen and papers come out. There are a broad range of business aspects that must be considered when selling an affiliate program, most of which I will not go into; however, I will say, if it were a viable and logical option, we would have undoubtedly done so. With both options off the table, the logical subsequent move was to shut the program down. In doing so, we ensured that webmaster traffic, something we consider the single most vital aspect of our online ventures, would not be compromised. That said, we have given webmasters notice to change the links; if that notice is not enough, I will personally change the links to direct to a link of their choice for an extended time period. We have insured that everyone will get paid. As HP suggested, I can change the links to point into the Weg system and carry the PC ids over into Weg, but in all fairness, and being a webmaster myself, it didn't seem the right thing to do. If someone was not in a position to change links, we did not want to force traffic to our own products, we wanted to give them the option. I of course do hope that everyone decides to use our programs, but that is the webmasters option to do so. Michael wanted to leave and pursue his mainstream businesses, something I think many of us strive for. Michael and his team were the founding members of Purecash and fueled its success on the levels of long-term experience. Without his future obligations to the program, and our already strident march into the world of Video on Demand, a logical business decision was reached that satisfied all parties. It goes without saying that Michael remains a friend and business contact with Wegcash. In all honesty, that is not sugar-coating things, it is simply the results of a business decision reached among a group of succesful and professional Industry pioneers. Joe, in all honesty, I did the best I could to answer the questions presented in the most straightforward possible manner. I respect you, hopefully you respect my straightforward answers and hopefully, this helps clear things up a little more. -------- Michael, I certainly do hope to see you at a future show. Hopefully, we can get together for a game of basketball in South Florida. I also hope that Joe carries on the now famous Bellyflop contest. It was certainly a pleasure on my part to work with you. I certainly learned a tremendous amount from you. Thanks to you for everything. It goes without saying, if you ever need anything from me, please do not hesitate in asking. Thanks and Best of Luck to you and Katie with all your future endeavors, Cory. |
First of all, the offer of an extended timeframe for the transfers is a classy thing to do. It beats the hell out of the norm, which is "we're shutting down day after tomorrow, see ya later, bye!" routine that is so common in the industry.
Still ... I have links I can't change. Not now, not in 90 days. You have a program that those hits could be sent to. Again ... I compliment you on the offer of far more time than most programs would consider. |

That said, I can't think of a perfect resolution off the top of my head aside from contacting the TGP owner, something I would be more than happy to do for you, but I will attend to this first thing in the morning and see about something logical. I can't say that it would be something that could be resolved. |
