We used to have someone who posted just like you.

same great tales of travel (I notice Everest )
Opinion on this biz , but no one knows what you do
No idea of the history of the biz

I supsect of you being.... ( I daren't say the name)

Vick 06-12-2004 12:40 PM

So, if an old friend I know
Drops by to say hello
Would I still see suspicion in your eyes?

Here we go again
Asking where I’ve been
You can’t see these tears are real
I’m crying

We can’t go on together
With suspicious minds
And be can’t build our dreams
On suspicious minds

When honey, you know
I’ve never lied to you
Mmm yeah, yeah

We’re caught in a trap
I can’t walk out

Why can’t you see
What you’re doing to me
When you don’t believe a word I say?

:wnw: :wnw: :wnw:

Winetalk.com 06-12-2004 03:19 PM

Nick,
that was my first suspicion too!

I wonder why you and me came to the same suspicion

Everest? I have never been to Everest. I have however seen it from a place called the Restaurant at the End of the Universe about a half an hour outside of Khatmandu. Everest was mentioned as a figurative by Serge and I responded. I have never told great tales of travel but brought them up in conversations about same. But I do like to travel. Ask me what you like about a lot of places and I will tell you what I know. As for the biz, I actually have no idea what most of you do or your history. I never ask because no one talks about it. I have told you I run websites successfully. What is it you do?

Oh, btw, I do have a very good knowledge of the history of the business. Just not necessarily your end of it because it seems we don't work the same markets or do the same business or I am sure I would have heard of you.

owned, eh. But it takes years of practice to know how to do it. I believe there are places you can take lessons if you are interested.
Here you go, master if you wish to give it a try.

They, do, Nick. That is what they do best. It their raison d'etre. I thought you, of all people would understand that. But when it happens to you, it is not quite as obvious I suppose. How does it feel?

I gotta say, I didn't think I would last this long. Especially in the company of experts at identity fraud like yourself. I am busy carving another notch in my keyboard as we speak.

When you learn how to read English and develop a sense of basic wit, you may post in response or in your own defense. Until then, my amusing little fellow, you may either a: continue to embarrass yourself in public or b: go back to your basement, regroup and continue working on your imaginary roadmap. If my forgiveness is all you need, then shameless begging will work. Now hop to it.

Rolo 06-12-2004 10:08 PM

No, its called the Restaurant at the End of the Universe. It is also vegetarian. I actually have no idea what you are talking about.

Gigly,
English is not Rolo's native language. We, the "foreignors", are often picked up on our second language skills by:
1) rednecks
2) quazi intellectuals who can't pierce our logic and have to resort themselves to the hits below the belt.

which camp you feel closer to or did I miss the third category?

Yes, you missed the third category. Where he claimed to be French. Then said he wasn't. Quasi is not a word I would choose, though Rollo might. He is hiding behind his lack of language skills. I know that. I actually do communicate with a lot of people whose first language is not English and have done for years, but Rollo is milking it. When you pierce the veil of his quasi intellectualism, you still turn up a dunkin donut.

Partially, but far from a tempest. In fact it would barely rate a tea cup. I stand behind my dunkin donut remark. In this case, I just react. Do you think it is satisfying to dunk a donut in my tea before I have even had breakfast? I have no idea who Rollo is, what he does, what his background is but I do know his blade needs a little sharpening. So is he French or what?

same can be said about you....none of us really know what you do in the industry...if anything.

Then you are not looking deep enough, grasshopper. As in foreigners and language, the blade is a euphamism. As for reputation, many know me and what I do. I only have a fleeting knowledge of what you guys here do. I find it interesting, but does not influence my business in any way. We move in different circles. You have your little slice of the pie, and people like me have ours.

Mine is the usual curiosity as well. It seems that most here complain about how bad business is and how the gold rush is over and blah blah blah. It behooves me to keep an eye on what does not work and not make the same mistakes. There are however pearls among all the pickles that do help me make strategic decisions. The conversation can be amusing and at times, stimulating, unlike other boards. And a few people here have actually travelled which in itself is a breath of fresh air. I have yet to figure out why i am berated for my travels though. Through the grace of God and good fortune, I have managed to travel to more places than most ever will. But I made that decision in my twenties so I have a long history of it. If I hadn't travelled, I would probably be much richer than Mike. One Cobra would take me around the world. Cobra - world? I rest my case.

Winetalk.com 06-13-2004 08:51 AM

you are berated for travels because:
you use your travels here as a status symbol
(kinda like a weasel) and not as an educational value you are sharing with others.

Folks here smell hypocracy and insencirety and show off a mile away.

Every time I travel,
I bring something to share with others, make their lives more interesting and horizons expanded...

see the difference and the reason why I am never berated for mine?

...and I even have the link in my sig

That is a perception. What folks think is what folks think. It is not a status symbol, it is my life. I understand you post a few pictures and that is a good thing. I have seen them and they are nice. Status is in the eye of the beholder. You use your money and position as a status symbol. Your over the top bets, your diatribes on how much money has been made or lost. Your rags to riches history. I don't really care if that is how you care to make your mark in the world. I just look at it as your little bit of chest beating. Not a bad thing. Everyone has to have a modicum of an ego. It causes us to strive to achieve. You know the Gecko theory.

"you use your travels here as a status symbol"
You need to look beyond your perception and wonder why it is you think this. Hell this is only an internet bitch board.

Schools out, Rollo. Your apoplexy is becoming apparent. May I suggest breathing into a brown paper bag. It will stop the dizziness. Now go grab a baguette and a nice glass of pression and do whatever it is that Frenchmen do on a nice June afternoon. You know solve the problems of the world and watch the pretty girls promenade.

No, I am talking about the "bets" you offer on this board. I am not going to search high and low, but I have seen them. I am sure you could find them. Nothing to do with trying to antagonize. If it does, you should look within. Nothing to do with me.

No, I am talking about the "bets" you offer on this board.

ahhhhh.....bluffing is legal in all 50 states and territories.
So far, I won all my "bets" by simply bluffing my opponents out of the pot

gilgy, If you aren't an escaped GFY moron, you are doing a first-rate impression of one :okthumb:

You are making the collective mind at GFY unstable by being here, you will soon have to return to your mothership, or watch the whole of your moron GFY race fall :)

Now, is there anything else you want to know, before returning to your planet? :groucho:
