He said conceive of, not see without a microscope, didn't he?

DaveAFX 11-05-2003 08:46 PM

A concept without available reference, such as an object with dimensions in excess of 3.

Looking back to when you were a child.... When your mom would come in and kiss you good night, think she ever had just finished sucking off your dad?

nick, i think you were close. the answer i heard is is lack of self, or non existence. human's do not have the ability to conceive of their own lack of existence. i dont mean death either. cause we can conceive of our own death and the reprecsussions on other people.

it is kind of interesting to close your eyes and try to imagine not being. not heaven, not death, not people greiving, not things that wouldnt exist without you, just imagine for a moment that you didnt exist. i dont think it can be done.

The thought of not existing throws me into an anxiety attack. The only thing that has ever done it. I try to avoid the thought of not being here as much as possible.

non existence is the most typical answer....or "nothing", "zero", etc...
i've never heard it typecast to the self, though...in general, it could be the non existance of a known reality, or merely existance itself...

Since if "I think, I am" how can one think of not being? For in the very process of Thought is the proof of your existence. :zoinks:

DAMNMAN 11-05-2003 11:48 PM

I'll say it again:

I DON'T KNOW!!! I can't conceive it.

And neither can any of you, because you can't conceive it either!!!

We don't know what it is, you are all talking about things that you are able to conceive.

Dravyk 11-05-2003 11:50 PM

The conversation isn't inconceivable, just the answer to the question asked!!!

Plugger 11-06-2003 12:48 AM

What about a brain dead person? Can they conceive anything? If not, then wouldn't they conceive non-existence? Perhaps not, since they cannot conceive anything.

Anyway, no individual can conceive a baby . . . that still takes two, even in a test tube :)

Hooper,

The answer to your question is your question... Much akin to Descartes
"I think therefore I am"...

And now the dancing bananas!!

He stole that line from Clinton Roosevelt.

Or maybe it was Reagan Hoover.

Really.

I read it on the internet.

PD,

I don't have a piano that drinks... I do have an organ that throws up once
in awhile though... :groucho:

PornoDoggy 11-06-2003 05:09 AM

Can't touch that ... don't swing that way

The piano has been drinking
my necktie is asleep
and the combo went back to New York
the jukebox has to take a leak
and the carpet needs a haircut
and the spotlight looks like a prison break
cause the telephone's out of cigarettes
and the balcony's on the make
and the piano has been drinking
the piano has been drinking...
and the menus are all freezing
and the lightman's blind in one eye
and he can't see out of the other
and the piano-tuner's got a hearing aid
and he showed up with his mother
and the piano has been drinking
the piano has been drinking

cause the bouncer is a Sumo wrestler
cream puff casper milk toast
and the owner is a mental midget
with the I.Q. of a fencepost
cause the piano has been drinking
the piano has been drinking...

and you can't find your waitress
with a Geiger counter
And she hates you and your friends
and you just can't get served
without her
and the box-office is drooling
and the bar stools are on fire
and the newspapers were fooling
and the ash-trays have retired
the piano has been drinking
the piano has been drinking
The piano has been drinking
not me, not me, not me, not me, not me

Carrie 11-06-2003 06:24 AM

that just reminds me of

Oh your red scarf matches your eyes
You closed the cover before striking
Father had the shipfitter blues
Loving you has made me bananas :bwave:

You've never seen a Jax beer label...it has a pic of a rearing white horse on it. My dad used to say, "Jax is the only brewer with the nerve to put a picture of their factory on the label.". :biglaugh:
