Its just a matter of respect and common courtesy.
Some folks have said this goes on at mainstream shows. Having been to several in the past [Comdex/InterOp/CES] I cant say that Ive ever seen it happen. I have heard of people being fired for haveing too much to drink and emabrrinsg the company. Nothing like what we are discussing.

My experience in mainstream has been that if you act like an ass at a trade show your fired on the spot and in some cases issued a Greyhound ticket instead of a Delta one.

I can honestly say that WEG HAS refused to do business with "whales" based on unprofessional things said on and off the boards.

J&J may be good Jews, but they're better people and I've seen them leave money on the table just on principle. It's one of the reasons I have a lot of respect for them (and the rest of the company....except for that Gabe fellow....).

Not a damn thing. If I hire a rep that gets drunk at a show and gets in a chair throwing match with Wiseman but picks up that whale, he gets to stay as well :)

If Rinaldo worked for me, I would not have fired him at all. I would have sat him down and said, "ok, you are here, you need to be here, do this and all will be fine:)"

If he can do it, all is fine. If not, things are different.

I got into an issue at a show many years back. KK likely recalls. That said, I handled it like a pro. I didn't hurt anyone, was more just annoying. But hell, I am annoying sober :)

Vanilla is a friend, but Rinaldo made a bad PR move. People can say what they like about me, I tend to be good at the PR stuff :)

And if you think about it, in the grand scheme of things, with as many shows as have happened, with as much drinking and playing that goes on, this situation REALLY doesn't come up that often at all. In 7 years I think I can count the times on one hand where a rep for a company has done something so awful that they were fired/people stopped doing business with a company.

They are both mistakes Gonzo, but one was more harmful to his bottom line than the other.

He groped. Now, lets say he apologizes to these girls and he never makes the comment. YOU would never know it happened :)

I can tell you, if he apologized to Vanilla, she would not have said a word. If he had not apologized, I still doubt she talks. He makes a nasty remark to her in a thread being used for her own promotion? Different story :)

Go back and read Raven's last post, she explained this pretty well.

I am not arguing over ethics right now, just over how he could have made his life better. Go back and read his post, he seemed to agree with me as well.

If you want to isolate what he did and discuss it, let me know. They just are not one in the same. That make better sense?
