Slav, who needs it? I add Forest to my wines, the same effect with no side effects!

Slav,

Was that andy's site? I remember he had a mushroom site or something.

Yep I remember when catman won that 50k, he was so damm happy!!
alot of people thought he cried or whatever to much, but the few times I talked with him, he was pretty cool.

Q was pretty cool too.

Todd, to tell you the truth, Catman didn't exactly WIN anything,
but...I save this story for my memoirs
;-))

some smart folks were ridiculed for hinting what they believed was the truth at that time,
but...they were 100% on the money
;-)))

Carrie 10-17-2003 05:51 AM

That guy Nero - shave his head and he'd look a hell of a lot like Amp.

Ian - IanX? Posts as Gothweb over at GFY and runs BloodMoney (goth sites), joined up with Sykk and CyberPunk a little while back and put his sites into Dark Dollars but it didn't work out, pulled the sites back out and got re-engergized running them solo again. Takes fantastic fucking photos, like art.

Gramma is still around. Had Semenex (make your cum taste good) but shut it down (the affiliate program anyway) in October of last year, still has GrammaCash and posts once in a blue moon over on Tom's Newbie Booster. I still haven't found anything to replace those semenex ads. :)

DJ got together with Timbo and they're running Adult Paymaster and having a great time, just recently helped sponsor a dinner with ARS down in Florida at Internext.

Jon from Wetlands is still around and is still in the media frequently, he posts over at Amateur Masters pretty regularly.

You know you're a newbie when... you only know about 1/3rd of the folks that are being listed off :yowsa:

Serge you should put out an APB on all of these people and if they're still around, get 'em to go to the PHB. Kinda like the Veteran's Party at Cybernet Montreal last year - I wasn't going to go because I was definitely not a veteran and Diamond Jim kindly loaned me half of his time in the business so I'd qualify :P

slavdogg 10-17-2003 06:03 AM

Todd, yup thats the site
i found it again recently when lycaeum.com domain dropped. No other way would i have remembered the name of that site.

Carrie, not the same Ian, but nice try for a newbie :)

>> but...I save this story for my memoirs
Serge, fuck memories, you cant take em with you :)
share the story. I remember the hints but i want the whole story

Slav, if I tell all the stories now,
who the fuck is gonna BUY my memoirs??????

Plus....General is still around, and he'd be the LAST person I would wanna drag into anything!, especially my Vitamin E refurbished remeniscences
;-)))

Sheeesh, I don't know any of them. But to be honest, until recently i thought webmaster boards were all worthless wastes of time! Boy was I wrong. I really ignored boards for too many years, I kick myself in the ass constantly for my lack of insight on that. No telling where I would be right now if I had used this resource when i first started out.

Winetalk.com 10-17-2003 06:39 AM

Spaz, the boards are NOT what they nused to be but still remain the MAIN source of webmastering related information, news and bits and pieces of common sence.

...and most important of them all-
the boards are THE best place to learn people,
make contacts, network without:
hangovers, less broken promisess than at the shows, etc...

Serge, Thanks for your reply.
I have come to realize the importance of getting to know others in the biz. Believe me for about 3 years (not long by all of yours standards, but long for me) I had my head in the sand. I remember when GFY first started, I joined at the urging of a friend of mine. I took a look, saw nothing but flaming going on, and went back in my hole. I'm not afraid of a good fight, but i want to learn/do business on the boards, not make enemies ya know?
I finally started posting on boards about 1 -1 1/2 years ago, and have learned a lot.

here comes the smoke up Oprano's ass

I like this board, this one will probably end up being my home as long as I am welcomed :) And Gonzo being full time is just an added bonus for me. Now I will just sit back and see what I can learn

enemies...ahhhh...

1) I don't know ANYBODY who made one single enemy on the boards,
all this "one persona bickering with another board persona" is as serios as any soap opera you see on TV

2) some people are worth being avoided and I usually know in 5-6 posts the people I'd never do business with.

This is how it works:
thro shit on one's head and measure the response from the person when person is at his/hers worst.

I did that with Joe Holler (and became friends for life) with MikeAI and became partners in Oprano, Nick, etc...
I have MUCH longer lasting relations with people I knew thru the "piss" than with the people I was "buddies" from the get go..

Heh heh Giving away your secrets (j/k) I havent been doing the board thing anywhere near as long as you have. And for me it has been a trial and error kind of thing.
I am sure I will eventually pick up on a few things, if i stay in business long enough.

Where is that red headed kid (well, your all kids to me) that used to run with Sweet T? He owned Pornotaxi, or something like that. I know he sold his adult stuff and went mainstream... someone tell me a happy story. I always liked him.
Sharpie...

I know who you are talking about.....his name was either Something Reynolds or Reynold Something....and he lived here in Atlanta....did some work for us way back when....but he ended up fucking one of my dear friends out of money and that was enough for me....

NOW......

For a blast from the past.....that dear friend of mine that he fucked out of $15,000 was Marc Overman.....aka Sparky......for those of you that do not remember Sparky he invented the term "Newbie Supernova"

--T[/b][/quote]
No... didn't know the other guy. Overman was the one I was asking about. Sparky! (didn't he have red hair?) I had a lot of respect for that young man.

The old Netpond photoalbum is still up!!!!

Now this IS a trip down memory lane!!! :)

Oh my god..... that link is priceless.
It has to be the oldest photo albumn around!
It even has a pic of the original Spanky - http://www.netpond.com/members/album/spankys.jpg - which we bought in 1998 - so it has to preceed that date.

I am trying to get Stan to come to Vegas in Jan for the show!! You guys should all drop him an e-mail and encourage him to make it out!!

I remember most of these people in the thread....

Sparky is definately one of the smarted people I know.
I miss DannyM, he was a funny guy.

OF course Ian and the Fly Scquirrels !! haha I miss harassing him.... he was so easy to provoke.

I'm not sure if this guy goes back as far as some of the others... but what happened to CAM?

Last I heard, he was pending trial on some drug charge.

Nickatilynx 10-17-2003 10:28 AM

Going through that album,,,

about 90% have dissappeared off the face of the earth,

Khan was always giving me shit for blind links and stuff.

Mainly cause I'd change my site and cover it with blinds and stuff ;-)))

Best thing about YNOTs toplist was that at midnight you could just sit and click your link (or build a bot) for 5 mins and fly up to the top.ALLEDGEDLY ;-)))

Then you'd get all this traffic that had never seen a blind or console in their surfing life..... ;-)))

Peaches 10-17-2003 11:12 AM

Can only make 1 post, so I'll type as I read:

I think Sammi still keeps in touch with Stonelaw (Steve Stone) - at least up until a year or so ago.

Remember Shitman? The jerk that told Sharky he needed $$? Can't remember the specifics, but he screwed a lot of people over. Hahaha - wrote that before I saw HP's post

The LisaA thing also involved "Whisper" or someone who was going to go to a show and never showed.

JD was selling sites for $$ on ARS recently due to someone needing money for cancer treatment

Kahn's running a TGP - I email with him every so often :) Ditto with Andy (Guru of Gif ) - still around just in the background.

I met Boner and Hare Kirshner in Atlanta at Dokk's strip club (also where I met T , Sparky, Dokk and Stonelaw :)) They were still working at some Best Buy or similar. Probably still there

I also still talk to Nancy/Gramma - she's around :)

Glad to hear Sparky's doing well :)

Serge - what's the real scoop with Catman? Damn - what the hell was it he always called everyone he didn't like?

And Chandra - hung out with Andrea, Jonathon's old girlfriend (who's now in Jax FL)?

Tropixxx Terry was at the FL show.

He hasn't been gone long, but where the hell is Zmaster Doug??!!

LisaA - I remember she was supposed to be at Faye's Secaucus show in '98 and she didn't show (but her supposed partner did). The next week she made up some excuse about being out with an ex-Green Beret friend of hers and they got jumped in a parking garage and the Green Beret killed one of the attackers before he got stabbed and she got hit or something. She said she missed the show because she was watching over her friend while he hovered near death's door. Found out later that the guy who was supposedly her partner was really her. I was with BannerMaster Matt at the time and we shared a booth with Mojo and the guy who was really LisaA (damned if I can remember his name). We kep thinking that all the stuff the guy was saying was shit and a few months later we found out it was. Damn that was a long time ago.
Yeah you shared that booth with some other freak who introduced you to
a model named Sammi... B)
