Best love song ever:

THIS MIGHT BE SATIRE

I wanna chew my bubble gum with you. And I want to walk you home from school. And I want to carry your books to every class. And I want to fuck you up the ass (not).

Oh girl, you know it's true how much I love you. I want to sing it across the land. Won't you hold my hand?

She tells me that she loves me, now I'm gonna tell her that I love her. She tells me that she loves me. Now I'm gonna try and fuck her. But where the hell are my priorities? Left in the hands of the authorities. Yeah, baby!

That reminds me of another BJ song ...

She can kill with a smile
She can wound with her eyes
She can ruin your faith with her casual lies
And she only reveals what she wants you to see
She hides like a child
But she's always a woman to me

She can lead you to live
She can take you or leave you
She can ask for the truth
But she'll never believe you
And she'll take what you give her as long as it's free
She steals like a thief
But she's always a woman to me

Oh, she takes care of herself
She can wait if she wants
She's ahead of her time
Oh, and she never gives out
And she never gives in
She just changes her mind

She will promise you more
Than the Garden of Eden
Then she'll carelessly cut you
And laugh while you're bleedin'
But she'll bring out the best
And the worst you can be
Blame it all on yourself
Cause she's always a woman to me

She is frequently kind
And she's suddenly cruel
She can do as she pleases
She's nobody's fool
But she can't be convicted
She's earned her degree
And the most she will do
Is throw shadows at you
But she's always a woman to me

Love is a battlefield - Pat Benatar

All we need is just a little patience - GnR

and one of my current favorites...
"How dare you say that my behavior is unacceptable
So condescending unnecessarily critical
I have the tendency of getting very physical
So watch your step cause if I do you'll need a miracle

You drain me dry and make me wonder why I'm even here
This Double Vision I was seeing is finally clear
You want to stay but you know very well I want you gone
Not fit to funkin' tread the ground I'm walking on

When it gets cold outside and you got nobody to love
You'll understand what I mean when I say
There's no way we're gonna give up
And like a little girl cries in the face of a monster that lives in her dreams
Is there anyone out there cause it's getting harder and harder to breathe
Is there anyone out there cause it's getting harder and harder to breathe

What you are doing is screwing things up inside my head
You should know better you never listened to a word I said
Clutching your pillow and writhing in a naked sweat
Hoping somebody someday will do you like I did" - Maroon 5

Hard Luck Woman - Kiss

If never I met you
I'd never have seen you cry
If not for our first "Hello"
We'd never had to say goodbye
If never I held you
My feelin's would never show
It's time to start walkin'
But there's so much
You'll never know

Your Life Is Now- John Mellencamp

Would you teach your children to tell the truth
Would you take the high road if you could choose
This is your time here to do what you will do

Part of Me Part of You - Glenn Frey

I look at you your whole life stands before you
I look at me and I`m running out of time
Time has brought us here to share these moments
To look for something we may never find
Until we find a bridge across forever
Until this grand illusion brings us home
You and I will always be together
From this day on you`ll never walk alone

Kenny Wayne Sheppard Band - "Blue On Black"

night falls, and i'm alone.
skin chilled to the bone.
you turned and you ran.
slipped right from my hands.

blue on black.
tears on a river.
push on shove.
don't mean much.
joker on jack.
match on a fire.
cold on ice.
a dead man's touch.
whisper on a scream.
doesn't mean a thing.
won't bring you back.
blue on black.

blind, now i see.
truth, lies, and in between.
wrong can't be undone.
slipped from the tip of your tongue.

Still don't know what I was waiting for
And my time was running wild

A million dead-end streets and
Every time I thought I'd got it made
It seemed the taste was not so sweet

So I turned myself to face me
But I've never caught a glimpse

Of how the others must see the faker
I'm much too fast to take that test

a slice of life from the 80's

I went to bed too late and got up too soon
My poor head still spinnin' from too much booze

I got a foot in the gutter A foot in the grave
I ain't seen home In the last three days

Oh my god look what the cat dragged in
Livin' my life sin after sin
Night rolls up and I do it again
Oh my god, look what the cat dragged in

No tell, motel, hotel bed
If it wasn't for the sunlight I'd swear I was dead

I got a girl on the left of me a girl on the right
I know damn well I slept with both last night

I'm late for work on Monday and my boss is bitchin'
Can't get out of be cause my head's still spinnin'

My hair's in a rat's nest I look like hell
Half alive or half dead, I just can't tell

Why don't you find a worthwhile cause to channel your energies?
Like finding a solution to starvation and disease
I know that you're concerned about your First Amendment rights
But don't you burn our flag to make your point, that's just not right
If you think you're better off in a different country
Why don't you pack your bags right now
Here's your ticket
It's on me

I've been around this whole wide world and found no better place
And no one's gonna start a fire in my homeland's face
We have a tendency to take our freedom for granted
We have some problems, yes I know
Look at the seed you've planted

I know that you're aching to be heard
What gives you the famous final word?
To think that your opinion is preferred
What gives you the famous final word?

What other country do you know that pays you without work?
When you need some money, see your welfare officer
There's a lot of other things that you could take a stand about
So you and your activists can take the next train out

I know that you're aching to be heard
What gives you the famous final word?
To think that your opinion is preferred
What gives you the famous final word?

Freedom of speech out of hand
Demonstations in the land
If you complain a little more
What rights you have left
Go flying out the door

Why don't you find a worthwhile cause to channel your energies?
Like finding a solution to starvation and disease
With all the problems in this world that are facing us today
We need a concentrated push or in the long run we'll all pay

We are all outlaws in the eyes of America
Every thing they say we are - we are
And we are very proud of ourselves ... (Jefferson Airplane)

That's the way that the world goes 'round
You're up one day, the next you're down
It's a half-an-inch of water and you think you're gonna drown
That's the way that the world goes 'round ... (John Prine)

Little boxes on the hillside,
Little boxes made of ticky tacky
Little boxes on the hillside,
Little boxes all the same,

There's a green one and a pink one
And a blue one and a yellow one
And they're all made out of ticky tacky
And they all look just the same.

And the people in the houses
All went to the university
Where they were put in boxes
And they came out all the same
And there's doctors and lawyers
And business executives
And they're all made out of ticky tacky
And they all look just the same.

And they all play on the golf course
And drink their martinis dry
And they all have pretty children
And the children go to school,
And the children go to summer camp
And then to the university
Where they are put in boxes
And they come out all the same.

And the boys go into business
And marry and raise a family
In boxes made of ticky tacky
And they all look just the same,

There's a green one and a pink one
And a blue one and a yellow one
And they're all made out of ticky tacky
And they all look just the same. ... (Pete Seeger)

Twenty-twenty-twenty four hours to go
I wanna be sedated
Nothing to do
Nowhere to go
I wanna be sedated

Just get me to the airport
And put me in a plane
Hurry hurry hurry before I go insane
I can't control my fingers
I can't control my brain Oh no oh ho

Just put me in a wheelchair
And get me to the show
Hurry hurry hurry before I go loco
I can't control my fingers
I can't control my toes Oh no oh ho

Driving faster in my car
Falling farther from just what we are
Smoke a cigarette and lie some more
These conversations kill.
Falling faster in my car.

Time to take her home,
her dizzy head is conscious laden.
Time to take a ride it leaves today
no conversation

time to wait too long, to wait too long,
to wait too long.

Too much walking shoes worn thin
too much trippin' and my soul's worn thin
Time to catch her ride it leaves today,
her name is what it means

Too much walking shoe worn thin
Time to take her home,
her dizzy head is conscious laden.
Time to take a ride it leaves today
no conversation

Conversations kill

Once the religious, the hunted and weary
Chasing the promise of freedom and hope
Came to this country to build a new vision
Far from the reaches of Kingdom and pope

Like good Christians some would burn the witches
Later some got slaves to gather riches

But still from near and far to seek America
They came by thousands, to court the wild
But she just patiently smiled and bore a child
To be their spirit and guiding light

And once the ties with the crown had been broken
Westward in saddle and wagon it went
And till the railroad linked ocean to ocean
Many the lives which had come to an end

While we bullied, stole and bought a homeland
We began the slaughter of the red man

But still from near and far to seek America
They came by thousands to court the wild
But she just patiently smiled and bore a child
To be their spirit and guiding light

The Blue and Grey they stomped it
They kicked it just like a dog
And when the war was over
They stuffed it just like a hog

And though the past has its share of injustice
Kind was the spirit in many a way
But its protectors and friends have been sleeping
Now it's a monster and will not obey

The spirit was freedom and justice
And its keepers seemed generous and kind
Its leaders were supposed to serve the country
But now they won't pay it no mind
Cause the people grew fat and got lazy
Now their vote is a meaningless joke
They babble about law and order
But it's all just an echo of what they've been told

Yeah, there's a monster on the loose
It's got our heads into the noose
And it just sits there watchin'

The cities have turned into jungles
And corruption is stranglin' the land
The police force is watching the people
And the people just can't understand
We don't know how to mind our own business
'Cause the whole world's got to be just like us
Now we are fighting a war over there
No matter who's the winner we can't pay the cost

'Cause there's a monster on the loose
It's got our heads into the noose
And it just sits there watchin'

America, where are you now
Don't you care about your sons and daughters
Don't you know we need you now
We can't fight alone against the monster

Tall Timber Skyhooks

They built this house from tall timber
Cut it down in the mountain air
Building dreams in the city
Kept on going till the hills were bare
Came along with their axes
Brought their trucks and chainsaws too
And they cut down all that tall tall timber
Tall timber for me and you

She was a young girl she was a hero
Stood on the stage and the people cheered
But the critics cut her down to zero
Because she sang the words that they all feared
And they came with their axes
Brought their knives and opinions too
And they cut her down like tall tall timber
Tall timber in the mountain dew

Please don't cut down tall timber
Let it grow tall straight and true
In this world we need tall tall timber
Tall timber like me and you

He was a young man with a dream
To bring freedom to his land
Shared his voice with his brothers
In those Chinese streets he made a stand
And they came with their soldiers
Brought their tanks and machine guns too
And they cut down all that tall tall timber
Tall timber like me and you

Please don't cut down tall timber
Let it grow tall straight and true
In this world we need tall tall timber
Tall timber like me and you

The redgum and the kauri
The eucalypt and pine
The poets and the painters
Thinkers of the time
Don't cut down the timber
Or we'll be forever poor
Don't kill off our heroes
Or we'll never win the war

Now the sun's so strong that it burns my eyes
And the air's so bad that I can't breathe
The winter's warmer and the summer's hotter
I drive for miles and I don't see trees
And they came with their axes
Brought their knives and chainsaws too
And they cut down all that tall tall timber
Tall timber in the mountain dew

No more lying friends
Wanting tragic ends
Though they do pretend
They won't go when I go

All those bleeding hearts
With sorrows to impart
Were right here from the start
And they won't go when I go

And I'll go where I've longed
To go so long
Away from tears

Gone from painful cries
Away from saddened eyes
Along with him I'll bide
Because they won't go when I go

Big men feeling small
Weak ones standing tall
I will watch them fall
They won't go when I go

And I'll go where I've longed
To go so long
Away from tears

Unclean minds mislead the pure
The innocent will leave for sure
For them there is a resting place
People sinning just for fun
They will never see the sun
For they can never show their faces
There ain't no room for the hopeless sinner
Who will take more than he will give
He ain't hardly gonna give

The greed of man will be
Far away from me
And my soul will be free
They won't go when I go

Since my soul conceived
All that I believe
The kingdom I will see
'Cause they won't go when I go

When I go
Where I'll go
No one can keep me
From my destiny

my eyes, they gleam like flourescent signs as i stare across the sky
i can smell freedom, prepare to cross the line

ridin' hard on my rock n' roll machine
dressed up for the 00's and i'll always come clean

i need a kiss
i need to feel your plain cold lips
i need a kiss
i need to feel your cold, cold lips

well i'm a dressed up vamp tonight

the voices that surround me they're my untamed friends
i'm a true believer in livin' to the very end, so

all dressed up and i'm runnin' ravaged
i'm lookin' for that one last bite
i'm dressed up and i'm ready to fly
an eager one to satisfy
a broken heart to mystify
well, i'm dressed up and i'm ready to fly

I don't believe that dissent is wrong, in fact I believe it's every citizens obligation. Lyrics like this make me cringe:

"Freedom of speech out of hand
Demonstations in the land
If you complain a little more
What rights you have left
Go flying out the door"

This is just plain insulting. If it wasn't for demonstrations and people protesting against inequity we'd all have very few rights... especially minorities. Look at what was achieved by the civil rights movement in the sixties... or the ACLU since that time.

And then there's this:

"What other country do you know that pays you without work?"

I know many, many countries that do. Mine included.

and this:

"Why don't you find a worthwhile cause to channel your energies?
Like finding a solution to starvation and disease"

To many people protesting in the name of peace is a worthwhile cause. I find it terribly arrogant and insulting of them to suggest otherwise.

"We have some problems, yes I know
Look at the seed you've planted"

This is clearly meant to imply that demonstrations and protestors are responsible for all the problems in the USA. That's hilarious. Imagine what kind of a world we would live in if governments could do what they wanted without fear of dissent or resistance. Oh that's right we do, it's called totalitarianism.

Sorry, but I don't have much time for a song that expresses these simple-minded half-baked nationalistic sentiments. The whole thing smacks of closed mindedness and parochialism. It's not the plain, awful, ugly truth. It's just neo-patriotic nonsense.
