I was a cocaine addict.

How did you stop?

Nice story by Nick...

....the more common way to break the habit is run out of money.
Sometimes that doesn't even help if you have friends in the right places though. Infact I think I still owe the dopeman for two 8 balls

If you don't hit rock bottom at some point in your life, you will NEVER learn anything important about yourself.

CJ,

You were partying? Wished I had known. We could have partied together.

;-) ;-) ;-)

People who have experienced complete and total despair seem to find the place in themselves where their strength comes from

Without the life circumstance we have all lived, we wouldn't have ended up here!! And by 'here', I don't just mean Oprano.

Well that's sort of my motto CJ. "What don't kill ya makes you stronger" as the old saying goes. There is alot of truth in that. You learn alot about your own mettle at rock bottom. Some make it back and some drift away and die there.
If you run, you'll eventually run right out of steam, and your run will slow to a walk, and then to a crawl ... will your next burst of steam help you to run fast enough to catch the man who never stopped walking? ... When I took typing in high school both pinky fingers were in splints and didn't heal properly... to this day I type on the keyboard like I'm ready for high tea - pinkies up in the air... lol
Both my pinkie fingers are naturally bent and the same thing happens with me. When my son was born, the first thing I noticed when I was counting fingers and toes were his bent pinkies :) His aren't as bad as mine as his hands are twice the site and they somehow just look a lot worse with little stubby finger :P

GREAT story Nick! Have you ever thought about counseling other addicts?

Have I admitted to being hung like a hamster yet?

I became an aunt 3 weeks ago. I made no such promise!!!

No I never really have given it any thought Peaches. I went through drug rehab when I was younger, even before the cocaine addiction and it was all BS to me. 12 steps and bla bla bla. "God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change...the courage the change the things I can...and the wisdom to know the difference". I bullshitted my way through the entire thing. I quit when I finally figured out it was time to quit. I don't really think I am good for counseling anyone. I am not really one to get involved like that. I sort of watch other people from the sidelines if you will. Nothing quite like a good train wreck sometimes...

...alot of that probably stems from my trying to cousel my younger brother about his pill usage to no avail. I finally cut the cord and just said fuck it. I wait for the call everyday that he is in the morgue.

Here's another lesser known factoid about NickPapageorgio. I was up for a scholarship to Berkley School of Music when I graduated. I decided that I wanted to get high and party instead. What an idiot lol...

I play the trumpet, tuba, trombone, drums, guitar, xylophone, baritone and a little sax. :yowsa:

I was first chair all state in Virginia my last 3 years in highschool and belonged to the virginia state jazz band as a trumpeteer.

You hit the nail on the head NickPapageorgio the bottom line is you will not and can not quit until you decide it is time. All the things like rehab are only a tool. You need to want to quit for them to work.
