At the end of the day, it goes to show only that the electoral college system ends up giving weight to some voters, and taking it away from others. Popular vote would have settled this a long time ago (not the way I want it settled, but I really don't care).

Your forefathers created a funky system, and now you are paying for it.

They really should pass a law called the "Provide Equal Election Results" law (PEER). In that law, it would be illegal for any state to announce it's results until all states and signalled that they are complete. At that point, all results are released simultaniously. That would avoid this bizarre focusing on one or two states.

He's just upset that in Canada the people don't even elect their prime minister.

c'mon,
would YOU let Canadiens vote directly?
;-))

Maybe in another 150 years, if people like Alex evolve a bit
;-)))

RawAlex 11-03-2004 09:40 AM

Gee, anyone who would spend two minutes checking would realize that voting form prime minister in canada would be difficult, as the system is not set up in that manner. We don't pretend to be actually voting for a leader.

Wig, ya know what? Good idea. thanks.

The idea of Alex thinking he knows a better system the one that our forefathers created makes me grin.

Almighty Colin 11-03-2004 09:46 AM

Alex,

You have to pay attention to the words.

I pledge allegiance to the
Flag of the United States,
and to the Republic for which it stands:
one Nation indivisible,
With Liberty and Justice for all.

We're not pretending anything. We're voting in accordance with the procedure outlined in the Constitution - one that makes perfect sense for the United STATES of America.

"Pay for it"? What do you mean? We have results 13 hours after the close of the polls.

That was the part that got me.

It's statements like that which cause people to use the words elitist and liberal in the same sentence and in a derrogatory way.

It's a shame.

sarettah 11-03-2004 10:57 AM

Kerry has conceded.
