Mr. Internet Police, Hooper is hiring. I know you need a job. Oprano does not pay you enough to make an ass out of yourself online and at shows?

Hooper is one amoung many. Lot of deep pockets. Since the Feds are taking too long to regulate, it maybe time for the sharks to get involved. Once they smell blood, it could get ugly. Combining Class Action with RICO could be devistating. Best thing about this is an enterprising person could raise an army of sharks and not have to put out any $$$. Sometimes contingency can work. |
weasel,
WHY are you so dumb? you don't have to answer this, it's a retorical question. |

Im so glad that your worried about my well being. I was afraid that after you said you wouldnt piss on me if I was on fire it meant the love affair was over. But honestly you have more pressing things to worry about than my current unemployment. Make sure that your legal staff is well rounded and your accountant is very trustworthy. BTW whens the SICCASH toolbar coming out? |
Hmmmm .....
Is there $ to be made in anti-toolbar software Kind of like spam blockers? Don't think the returns will be as high as toobars but interesting to consider |

There could be money to be made. Unfortunately, much like spyware, toolbars come in many shapes and flavors and whoever does a tool for them has to manage to keep up with them (Like the viruses and the antiviruses). Known toolbars would not be that hard to write against. In response to the rest of the thread, unfortunately, it is hard to get action taken when Microsoft and AOL are two of the loudest voices AGAINST spyware and toolbar legislation. They use the technology that makes these things possible extensively throughout their products and tahy are not, anytime soon change that direction. |
I'm still trying to figure out how I'm supporting spyware and who actually might be my employer. I thought you all realized by now I'm such a bitch in the office that no one wants me to come in all day.
My comment is, and was in my last post, very simple. I will make it even more so. It will be funny as hell to see who's got their own toolbar or whatever distribution for their own spyware shortly that has been crying like a girl now. It's not a matter of IF, it's a matter of WHEN. |

KK, this is Oprano - home of the no spin zone.
Name a name. |
Vick, there is money in making a "browser help object" manager, something that can pop up before a new BHO is installed and say "hey, do you want to install what is probably a piece of shit spyware?" Something that checks things like the hosts file, the DNS servers being used, etc, and points on when they are being changed from the originals to keep people on the straight and narrow.
I think there might also be a market in creating false files that make the spyware people think their shit is already installed, so they won't install it again. Looking at how fast (in political terms) the US house and senate are coming to terms with this, I think this has made top of mind awareness all over, which makes it a very short lived situation. This is the no bullshit zone ... the place where people don't talk out of both sides of their face at the same time. I don't think that many people *here* spoke out against consoles, cross sells or spam - because we were all doing it first. Who *exactly* of those of us who have spoken out against toolbars do you think will be distributing their own spyware soon? Its not like you to sit on the fence :groucho: :P |

rubbing against it while sitting on it might produce very pleasant results ;-))) |
