I think this thread should be closed to anyone without atleast 7 figures in the bank.
I do not know many people who have 7 figures in the bank.... Other places to put money. ( under the mattress!! haha)

Good point....having 7 figures in the bank would be extremely stupid, particularly for people of our average collective age (which I heard was 33 or so)....

If I had any money, I would put it into real estate or businesses that don't require much, if any, owner participation...

KK - you should have more to say about this post than anyone. Spill some numbers... no companies, just numbers.

My cash goal is never to have more than 6 months worth of expenses liquid.

Snob? I have been called much worse.
Yeah... but not by me....... :yowsa:

I use the terms "in the bank" loosely. Although I believe in keeping quite a bit of capital liquid, my financial advisor and I have found a happy medium. Smartest thing I ever did was spend 50+ hours with him over a couple weeks. Learned alot.

Brad, I have been working hard on getting on a budget as well....

It is tough to do....

$$ is not flowing like it used to, but I still spend way to much money on STUPID things... I am trying to fight the urges...

If I cannot stop, I hope you or Diamond Jim will give me a job!

BradShaw 07-09-2003 06:15 PM

Well I do not follow the budget per se, but was very interesting to see all your spending broken down and presented to you via a 3rd party. Very eye opening. All those first class tickets add up, coach is not so bad after all!

I just try to be a bit more jewish, or like my favorite honorary jew DJ.

Real Estate is a great investment - especially at the interest rates...... It is a given if you are under 40. It will appreciate, while most of the 'hot wheels depreciate. There are as many ways to make money in real estate as there are ways to sell porn. Banks sure aren't paying much..... but a balanced profolio is what is needed, for both sunny and rainy days. The most important thing is to DEVERSIFY. The bottom line is always what counts.

MikeAI - thanks... Its true, I do wish the best for everyone! :)

I would guess that there are 5-7 guys doing $30 mil / year gross but that the top 2-3 are doing WAAYYYY more than $30 mil (as in 9 figures).

Net wise I would guess that the same 5-7 are doing $5 mil / year but again some are doing 4-5 multiples of that...

I would think counting all revenues spent in this business there might be 1 billion in gross receipts in this biz (not including inter market spending, if that is a real econ term). In other words, that 1 billion is NEW money, not money going towards the expense of that 1 billion (processing fees, commissions, hosting, content, etc...).

But, what the hell do I know... :) Its all a guessing game for us, guess that is what makes it fun!

No need to keep a secret anymore - remember, the Supreme Court recently said it was OK! :)

Yeah... once I get to about 8 figures I lose count and have to start over :)

Bingo! I know lots of people who had everything in tech stocks and took a real bath when the bubble burst. Smartest thing I've done is diversify, not only my portfolio in terms of stocks, bonds, funds, etc, but also real estate.

I'm more dirt than liquid!
