You know, I just saw her on the AEE2009 on G4 again, and what you're saying rings true. She is definitely full of herself, now that she "has the respect of the film industry." Somebody must'a given her a thesaurus for Christmas.

I think Sasha Grey seems pretty cool, but being able to keep a head on her shoulders about being a porn star is not the same as being expert in traffic or any of the sorts of information which would get me to a panel at a trade show. I find it kind of depressing that so many of the industry trade shows are treating professional webmasters like surfer customers.

ehh, not surprised at all really, They (various companies) have been TRYING (and failing) to make Sasha the next Jenna, so far I've caught her on a few cable series (Family Biz, and some reality style show about the remake of Deep Throat) and then there was her "crossover movie"

I think you may be right, but I also think that she doesn't have the sheer star power or the overwhelming looks to truly get people interested. I don't think she brings quite enough glamour to the game. She has a picture the other day on Perez Hilton (I wonder who paid for it to be there), and she didn't look to be all that.

Ok, someone might want to discuss "Keynote" with future speakers.
I'm afraid hearing about the "history of the adult business" from a child that hadn't yet been born when she is telling me about "how it was in the Video tape days."

I was there. And I'm not so old, that my feeble, elderly mind has clouded over.
The rest of her keynote seems to have been primarily self promotion.

I also wasn't very impressed with "the room" provided for the keynote. Would a little decoration have hurt?

I wasn't there, maybe it looked snappier in person?

The whole thing was unprofessional from the room to the talent. I agree with Emp on this. Why would this haphazard, cobbled together performance attract anyone other than consumers to see a porn girl? Jesus wept.

edit: The Camera work was stellar. It complemented the presentation.

WOW! What was AVN thinking?? I just forced myself to watch that entire fiasco, and she was awful. Not just for herself, but for the industry as a whole. Someone over at AVN really needs to look up "Keynote Address" in a dictionary. (someone please explain to me how this was, in any way, a Keynote Address!) She should have talked about the state of the industry as it is now, and the thrust of the show. not about herself.

She spent a couple of minutes talking about the past, and the supposed way everyone used to work together (which just never happened). Then she went on about herself, her new company, and how she was going to finally make good movies! She basically shit on all the producers in the audience! In the Q&A section, she also shit on the public! This chick is poison and no one should ever let her speak again!

The common theme there is that they've all been in the business long enough to have some perspective on where the industry has been, where it is now, where it has succeeded, where it has failed, and where it may be headed. Those are the topics generally touched upon in a keynote address.

You posted those sixth grade videos of a girl who was semi coherent on this business, so the assumption is you want an opinion.
Now that you are an employee of this company, paid to do this kind of thing....(note to self...don't use the W word) you might expect to do a little damage control. You are an oar in their boat now.
Face it....that was an embarrassing disaster of a presentation by a company that was taking the piss out of the rest of us. Total disrespect for their peers. This kind of shit will not help their business one bit.

I agree with those names, or even Tera. She's managed to straddle several worlds. I know she doesn't have a "cozy" relationship with AVN, but we're all "grown-ups" here.


Nina Hartley certainly has something to say, (and would have done it eloquently,) as does the hedgehog.

Even Regina Lynn would have been a decent speaker.

What I am doing, however, is questioning what you would have done instead since it's all to easy to whinge about their choice. I have no "oar in their boat", and no... Isn't AEE owned and run by AVN? I had thought it was and always had been. I can't see the EMA running it, especially when they have companies like Blockbusters on their board. A number of the board members are very vocal in their anti-Porn stance.

Who is running AEE these days? It still seems to be known as "AVN Adult Entertainment Expo"
