So you think the millions of people who died as a result of Hitler and say, "the Spanish" were the results of bogeymen?
and how exactly was hitler a threat to the US? not "US interests", but real american citizens? *

in fact, how were any of the examples i gave a threat to americans? and mind you, i left out totally lame made-up examples like fidel castro and nicaragua and who knows what else?

and now we have a never-ending war on terror that the president himself says is unlikely to be won, but that doesn't stop him from extorting hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars a year to go out and wage it.

keeping the citizenry scared is just a tool for cash extraction and power enhancement.

* and sure, hitler was a bad guy and a lot of people died, but that didn't seem to be a problem when stalin was murdering millions, or mao, or pol pot, or north korea, or any of those other places that innocents died. didn't see the US busting ass to save them.

so the US has a selective process about what threats are threats, and what threats aren't. the US did, however, think that they were threats enough to extract more billions from the citizenry to donate to the military industrial complex.
Sorry, I mistook your usual "the US government is evil and in a 100 year long free fall " tirade for a general statement about humanity. Should have known better. It's all about those evil Yanks.

As far as Hitler, come on. Hitler declared war on the US. We didn't pick which side we'd fight on. Countries that declare war on you = threat.

"Military industrial complex"? You need some new books.

There is a big difference between modern "muslims" and "islamists"... why do think "muslims" have been fleeing from "islamists" (conservative religious) and "wahhabist" (even more conservative religious). To become a muslim it only takes that you belive that "Allah is the only God and Muhammad is his messenger", which takes about 3 sec. to say... Now if I want to be a islamist, then I will have to devote my life to study of the Qur'an, and if I want to be a wahhabist, then I have to live as the first muslims on earth and see everyone else who do not as heretics (even other muslims).

I guess unemployment must be higher, look at all the people who have so much free time on their hands.

I will not be shocked if the protests get violent. There are some groups out there who consider themselves anarchists..... If they do start trouble, I hope they get the beat down they deserve from the NYPD.

according to census polls, 2 million more jobless since 2000;)

like the people who post on these boards? :awinky:

Well I cannot speak for others, but I have the ability to multi-task. So taking a few seconds out to make a post or 2 does not interfere with my work.

Look at the people protesting... these are not average Americans. Most of these groups are way on the fringes of society.

No, he's referring to liberals and other believers in foreign ideologies.
i don't think it's in the democrats/leftists/anti-bushist's best interests for there to be any mayhem or violence.

the major story yesterday was 400,000+ americans against bush, not discussion about the republican platform. this has to piss off the GOP.

if i was a republican strategist i'd have been spending the last year or so setting up naive anti-bush protestors to go around spreading mayhem to try to discredit the protesters and their message.

let's see how things develop over the next few days.

true, but the republican platform has been well discussed. nothing new going to happen here, just a bunch of glad handing, and maybe a handjob between bill oreilly and shawn hannity;)

McCain was weak.... Guiliani was good....

I saw the clips from the actor Ron Silver and he pretty much represents my view. I think we need someone who sees islamicists for the world threat they are. We need to defeat them now. After this we can turn country back over to the Clintons.

Ron silver is the king of cinemax movies. every cinemax or hbo original movie has ron silver in it. hes the poor mans andy garcia:)

grimm 08-31-2004 02:30 PM

this is the best part so far, from ESPN's page 2

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2...e=keown/040831

This is way off-topic, if that's at all possible, but answer this: How can a guy who gets paid to give his opinion on political and social issues admit on national television, while he's being paid to give those opinions and while he's sitting at the Republican convention, that he hasn't seen "Fahrenheit 9/11"?

And by the way: It doesn't matter what you might think of the movie, but it seems like required viewing for folks in that business, wouldn't you agree, Mike Barnicle?

grimm 08-31-2004 02:32 PM

thats about as dumb as it gets, you gotta know the questions are going to be asked, so see the movie, that way you dont look like a deer in headlights when the questions are asked.

grimm 08-31-2004 02:33 PM

what little of the interviews ive seen, ive gotten the impression that the GOP is a bit confused, that the aura surrounding this convention was a little more than they had predicted. They need to adjust.

on the bill maher show he announced he would be there, like 2 months ago. he has a media pass, and all required documents to enter.

I´m sure we will see anti bush movie #2, if Bush wins the election... the republicans gave him some great footage - lots of places where he can cut things out of context, and mix it all together with his own spin.

I have not made one liberal statement, im right square in the middle. a swing vote, an undecided, a citizen faced with voting for Kerry or have four more years of what i consider a shifty, lying administration. Grimm you are far from average.

Embrace your liberalness..... I find it amusing that Liberals hate to be called Liberals.

I am a Libertarian by nature, but I am comfortable being called a Conservative. The whole concept of Conservativism is anti-knee jerk... we leave that for all the willy-nilly liberals.

I vote for the man, not the party.

and i have no problem being called liberal or conservative as long as its defnition serves the best interest of my nation.

i am a liberal, i am a conservative, i am a libertarian, i am a citizen, i am an American

:)

grimm 08-31-2004 06:10 PM

and im from Ohio. a conservative state. not surehow i got labeled ANYTHING... oh wait. i think that President Bush has proven he is not fit for office. that must be it.

If you run down the issues, i think you will find i lean towards a conservative realm of thinking. outside of moderated gun control, and being pro choice, I am against big government social programs not set up in the way the WPA projects were set up after the Depression. I disagree with handouts in general, however i am for prescription drug benefits for the indigent and elderly. I am for less defense spending, but not in the terms of less units on the ground, but in the terms of a more efficient military. I am against deficit spending, yet at the same time have no problem paying highe taxes than the majority of the upper middle class in order to balance the budget. I think that government programs to regulate the sale and use of drugs are a waste of time and effort. I feel this should be fought on foreign fronts. I am against sending 2 million jobs to other countries. I think a dollar earned on american soil is worth 10 earned on foreign soil. I belive globalization has moved from the economic markets to military defense. But then again i also beleive if we are to ever win the war on terror, we need to reel in the stone age nations that present the biggest threat.

So what does that make me, Mr Labeler, can you fit all that under one word?:)

feel free to ask me any questions. Just none about how i feel about paying more taxes in 2006, because that is the least of our worries, fromm where we are sitting now

:barfon: :inlove:
