Funny, the thread title is "anyone quitting smoking for the holidays"

not

"anyone quitting smoking while they are pregnant"

Just an observation.

nothing better than watching people shoot down another.

watching someone defend the child abusing actions of another is almost as amiusing.

cheers nick.

i am regretful you seem to be now opposed to me solely because i voiced an opinion on a woman smoking during pregnancy.

I am not opposed to you at all ,fletch.

I am not for her smoking during pregnancy.

There is not one person on this board that would congratulate a woman FOR smoking during pregnancy.

You , however , are the ONLY one that feels the need to harass and bully a pregnant woman that is trying to give up.

Do you see my point?

Ah ok.

So I'll sit down calmy, and shut my mouth.

Hope her actions are forgotten.

I can see how most parental abuse is covered up, hell its accepted amongst adults.

So ok, we cool now, let it all go back to how it was.... never turn your back on an addiction, its sad kids have to fight a war mommy started.

I have worked with kids, both deaf and abandoned, in fact I have raised money for them for over a decade. I will never let some half ass mom get in the way of what a kid deserves.

I have worked with klids and they deserve more than they get.

make me out to be the bad guy, its silly.

i have put in more hours to chuild rehabilitation that most have put in for their own kids.

it isnt my responsibility but i do it because it feels right....

keep making me out to be an asshole when im the martyr for the children you dont even have.

i have given kids a smile when they had none.

THAT is what makes me scream for them when their own parents are poisoning them.

cheers.

Cherry, I asked if anyone was quitting for the holidays because in case you haven't noticed, I am one of 3 people on this board who are pregnant and AFAIK, the other two don't smoke.
So asking the non-pregnant women and the can't-get-pregnant men if they are quitting smoking for their pregnancies would have been rather stupid, don't you think?
I thought if anything, someone else might be quitting around this time for the holidays.

Fletch - Pot, meet Kettle. Kettle, meet Pot.

You guys can berate me and bash me all you want, ignoring the fact that I am trying to quit. The mere fact that you are ignoring that makes all of your rantings and preachings moot.

Besides, taking sermons from someone who feels the need to brag about his alcoholism and his 420 celebrations is just too funny for words.
So I choose not to.
Preach to the wall - you might convince it that you are more than a rebel without a cause.

Carrie, you dont like me, never have thats fine. I like watching you write paragraphs.

on the real though, yuou should spend more time worrying about the life inside of you instead of my comments on a board.

PornoDoggy 11-22-2003 11:24 PM

Carrie, I think your desire to quit for your pregnancy is great.

I'd seek out a few more opinions on the affects of Wellbutrin on pregnant women, since you've gotten two different opinions on it would be my only advice. Yes, smoking during pregnancy does cause some problems, but it's not likely to cause problems for your child should he or she someday decide to snowboard.

cherrylula 11-22-2003 11:24 PM

blah, blah, blah... glad Fletch seems to irritate you so much, your comments are funny. Smoke up mom.

oh yeah, what's AFAIK? I almost don't want to ask...

Are you saying a friend of mine who had severe respritory problems known to have been brought on by his moms smoking is a lie?

Id like to see you tell him that to his face.

his lungs never formed correctly due to moms nictonin, whether you accept it or not.

I was never a big smoker, but I found myself having a few everyday for almost 6 months, id go thru maybe 1.5-2 packs a week. Been 7 days strong, no cravings...

every time I see someone smoking a cigarette, I realize how disgusting it is. Good luck!

Biggy good going!! Keep it up!!

Hey CT, Peaches, and Edd...

I have noticed this too. One time I sent Tony a link to a thread on this board and when he clicked it he was logged in as me. Possible security issue?

Now back to the topic at hand...

Yeah, and then since he was "me", he logged out and back as him and so when I posted, it said I was logged on as "him". And we were on two completely different computers and neither of us has used the other's computer to post on this board.

Odd. I'll alert my boyfriend/lover/etc., Gonzo to the problem while we're in bed tonight. :awinky: (and if you haven't been following Confucy's accusations, then I apologize for the confusion, hehehe. B) )

And Fletch - if you're going to attack Carrie for smoking while she's pregnant, shouldn't you attack me for making my kid smoke AND eat what was left of the pack I caught him with? :P

Great line Nick!

Fletch - Carrie should get support, not condemnation
Can you agree with that?

Tough situation and Carrie is doing the best thing she can, if you can't support/get behind that and not make negative remarks ......

and I really don't want to piss on/with you because I have enjoyed conversing with Cherrylula

What do you think?

I've been hearing so much lately about google cutting out spam - pah!
Try typing "zyban pregnancy" into google (no quotes) and see how many pages you get through before you get tired of looking for a relevant article!

PD I went over to Babycenter and WebMD finally and found a few notes about it here and there, all saying that Zyban is safe. I'll still get another opinion, though.

Today will be lollipop and Sharpie's Sports Bottle day. :)

Ahh, I get it. You have to be drunk and high instead.

Gotcha. :okthumb:

I'd rather be drunk and high, than pregnant and inflicting suffering on a person that is not even born yet.

And I will take that to the grave.

cheers

You guys act like it's easy to quit.. It's not. Believe me I struggled with quitting for a long time too. I'm not smoking now, but that doesn't mean I don't crave it, it's STILL hard. She has expressed the will to quit smoking, and you guys are crucifying her for what? To make a point? Drinking alcohol and smoking up really no better, whether you're doing it to your body or your baby's. Instead of sitting there saying "How could you do that to a baby", why not say "How can I help support you in your efforts?" I guess it's easier to sit and judge and point fingers than it is to help? I'm not trying to be bitchy, but as a reformed smoker myself, I happen to know that the kind of superior attitude you guys are foisting off on Carrie does NOTHING to help the conviction to quit. If you REALLY want to be helpful, offer to be someone to talk to when things get hard, and offer words of encouragement.

Carrie, I know how hard it is. If you need someone for some support, believe me I'm there for you! Icw 3522039.

Honestly, the Zyban might help, but you would probably be better off in the long run to use behavioral quitting.. As in replacing the bad behavior (smoking) with a new one. And make sure to have a stress-free zone you can go to when things get rough. I know with kids it can be a huge stress sometimes, but have a room you can go to for a second, take a few deep breaths and calm down, breathe your way through the craving. It really does help.

Carrie - Make sure you brush your teeth after that lolipop........

Food taste in your mouth seems to bring on that behavioural thing of wanting to smoke after meals. Brush your teeth or use mouth wash often. That is why water is so good - it doesn't leave the food taste.

Sharpie 11-23-2003 10:30 AM

I found this on http://www.webmd.com - there is lot's of stuff there you might want to read if you haven't been there.

"Bupropion (the idgredient if Zyban) is in the FDA pregnancy category B. This means that it is unlikely to harm an unborn baby. Do not take bupropion without first talking to your doctor if you are pregnant"

Where did I say it was easy?

I dont think its a matter of choice when it is regarding a child life.

I have been through both NA and AA and smoked cigs for years and quit smoking cigs as well.

Spare me how hard the test is, I have quit smoking as well as harder things.

No one said it was easy.

Good luck Carrie, I hope for your child sake you beat it.
