This whole thing seems like a pretty simple straightforward dispute between a couple of resource sites over the normal thing that resource sites get into disputes about.

Now, if I was a smartass I would say that about only "more to the story" that isn't being shown might be the egos of the parties involved. Of course, I'm not a smartass - I'm a demacommy. :D

I work for Dravyk and Electra, who operate Dirty Gloves & All of Em just like Mike and Serge operate Oprano - as partners. I support my employers, just like Mike supports his partner.

I am glad to read that the resident board lyricist wasn't in fact invoking Devo; me personally, I'm thinking along more classical lines.

Perhaps Shakespeare.

MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING.

PornoDoggy 08-18-2003 08:59 PM

Well, having had my ego crushed the other day by the information that I am not a player, I am obviously not a worthy opponent. Of course, I'm also not dumb enough to play high stakes poker with a guy who wants to use the deck of cards he pulls out of his pocket, either.

I would imagine you could get a good piss going if you cleared up any technical difficuties that might be blocking potential opponents.

Anyway, it's halftime during the football game, and I've got to run out for some dinner. I've got a taste for some KFC tonight.

Lisa 08-18-2003 09:12 PM

I'm not buying into this argument but I just wanted to say...

In my life, there are varying levels of friends. Acquaintances are those that I've met, but haven't really talked to at any great length. HOPEFULLY those acquaintances become friends later. Like Lisa with PMB. We've met before, but never chatted. We spent some time together in FL and now I consider her a GOOD friend. :)
Aww shucks Peaches, and ditto. :)

P.S I promise to bring more TimTams next time. :awinky:

NO MORE TIM TAMS!! (until I lose 40 pounds. :awinky: ) The kid actually helped me eat a couple....BEHIND MY BACK and before I threatened to kill him. :okthumb:

ulfie 08-18-2003 09:28 PM

Yeah, those TimTams are awefully good. CJ gave me a box last year and I took them out and gave them to my mom. Well, I ate a few as well. She's been bugging me to get more ever since. May have to go to Australia just to buy cookies. ;)

As far as the Serge vs Dravyk smackdown battle, I've heard Dravyk's side of the story and yes there is a little more to the story. Then again, there are always 3 sides to every story so I have no idea what the truth really is. It's really none of my business though so I'll stay out of it thank you.

Lisa 08-18-2003 09:32 PM

Well Ulfie, looks like you can steal the TimTams from your wife since she doesn't want them. ;)

If she decides to get mean and keep them all for herself let me know and I'll bring you your own supply. :)

cj 08-18-2003 09:33 PM

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAA

OOooh! The caramel ones look yummy! I'm not a big dark chocolate fan - give me creamy milk chocolate and I'm a happy camper. :P

You really find out how crappy American chocolate is when you taste it from almost EVERYWHERE else and it's so much better than ours is, lol!

Lisa 08-18-2003 09:41 PM

Makes note:

Caramel TimTams for Peaches :)

Ulfie, don't worry I'll bring you your own...she's not gonna share the caramel ones, guarantee it. :)

Aussie in America - coping without tim tams!

some useless but interesting extracts:

"Marketing by stealth isn't the only tactic employed in relation to Tim Tams. They have also been associated with the double entendre, such as "Ten reasons why a Tim Tam is better than a man", and "Two and a half inches has never been so satisfying". These people are well aware the major devourers of Tim Tams are women. Perhaps the name "Double Trouble" is not so far off the mark. Arnott's has also reported that most Tim Tams are eaten in the privacy of the home, and forty percent of customers admit to hiding their purchase of Tim Tams from friends and family."

"You can buy Tim Tams online, including at the web site of my sponsor Simply Australian<here ya go ulfie! http://www.simplyoz.com/products/aussie_fo...ts/tim_tams>. Through the Arnott's web site you do have to buy in bulk. But hey, when were 20 packets of Tim Tams too many? In fact, according to Arnott's:

Around 30 million packs of Australia's bestselling chockie bikkies are sold each year - that's nearly 300 million biscuits, or two packets for every Australian.

On a per capita basis, they are the world's biggest-selling chocolate biscuits.
"

Lisa, I had a great time hanging out with you and Peaches. It's nice to be around people my own age for a change. Really enjoyed it. Probably the best show for me ever as far as networking went. :)

Still enjoy a bit of a party atmosphere, but REALLY like it when I can get some decent conversation. Of course spending the majority of my time with 3 kidlets probably contributes to that. ;)

We didn't get married in Florida did we? That happened last time I went to a show and I didn't even know about it until I got home. I could be facing some legal problems if we did.

Oprano is NOT going down... I see it as a sign of "maturity" - some boards will piss about ANYTHING - the weather, some guy's sig line, the "tone of voice" in a post from someone they don't know... lol IMHO that's not real "piss" as we know it from "back in the day" - it's the watered down toilet-water version that nobody could truly "enjoy".

I think that if there was a GOOD reason to piss, Opranauts would still come out on TOP!

Dantheman was a silent partner in all this - I merely married him w/o his knowledge when I bought him dinner. It's a bad habit of mine.

As we were discussing last night on the phone...

I dont shy away from too many meals. Besides Ive hired 2 and fired 2 and let some temp work go recently. So Peaches Ill bring you a coke can [not the kind Brad talks about] pop top and you can have visions of being hooked up. I can endear a nice dinner at Morton's while you admire that "ring"....about the time the Godiva cake comes out Ill start breaking it off so you can catch that check before its over.

Besides...I can almost run back to the data center from the one downtown.

And since 6 1/2 racks are empty cuz we got rid of our non paying spamming buddies...[FUCK YOU GOLDSTEINS!] I wont run into any gear outside my office.

Yeah, I miss Dravyk. I miss Dig, ScottPB (don't tell him), Charles Carreon, Robin (didn't have time to get to know him), the fishman who swears he is Cohen's friend), and sometimes I miss the old un-threaded board.
Who here remembers ScottPB throwing up in the elevator at the Clarion in Orlando back in '97? That just hit me when I saw his name :hic:

I think he got in a fight with someone that evening too?? Don't fully remember...

Thanx for clarifying that for me pd.....

Opti 08-21-2003 11:00 AM

I miss the oprano reviews... and would like to see Oprano in boardscanner.

Btw... Dravyk did something "nice" for me a couple of months ago that has directly made me money. As far as him being a fence-sitter.. he could also be called a diplomat.. and by the looks, no one seems to like him taking a stand this time anyway! ;-)

Dravyk 08-23-2003 04:13 PM

Well I will again thank those who posted good things here.

Next, I agree if someone is a constant board reader of this board, reviews would not be of much use to those. To those who read many boards, while it's impossible to capture the Oprano "flavor" in reviews (one has to read Serge's posts themselves to enjoy them fully), it has its benefits, IMHO.

All in all, as PD said, "twas much ado about nothing".

However, I will not and can not let this post go unchallenged ...

Quote:

I will say it. Drav is a weenie. He has always been a weenie, and will always be a weenie. He is a fence sitter, and an ass kisser. Could this be because of his job? Maybe. But regardless, I have no respect for people who cannot stand up for the things they beleive. ( It is even worse if they do not have anything they beleive in)
I have NEVER kissed anyone's ass. EVER.

Next, Mike, not sure if you know what year this is, but just to inform you, it is 2003, not 1999. Yes I WAS a fence sitter, as you call it, during the time when I was a newbie and during the early days at Condom/Netpond as an official of that resource. At the time, being an official there, working for someone else, and that board being only one of two major boards, you didn't fuck over sponsors or try to take sides, especially when you worked there. Later when it was one of five major boards and there became more competition for advertisers, that held even more true.

And even while I was there, I remember getting called on the carpet a few times for NOT using discretion, and told to tone it down. (Or rather recall Nick screaming "what the fuck were you thinking, talking to so-so like that on the board. He's a fucking sponsor!") That's one of the many ironies in your statement, Mike.

(Another might be, I have never seen you put bitch-slap any of your advertisers listed on here, but hey, let's not ruin this post with facts or anything.)

What you call fence sitting, I call my being diplomatic. Something that you both don't know how to do and never had to worry about doing being in a different position. But, for me, that was four years ago; get with the program. Haven't sat on any fences for a long fucking time. In fact, if I was someone who didn't take stands, didn't have opinions, and kissed assed, this whole banning shit would never have come up. Duh! :-)

Personally, I think the weeniest shit I've seen in a long time was your taking shots here at a time you knew I wasn't able to respond. Now THAT is weenie, Mike.

And with that said, nice to be back to be able to say all of that.

Billy 08-23-2003 06:24 PM

Glad to see you made it back !

Dravyk, my man! Wowzee Zow!

You are much more appealing when you say what's on your mind. Never in my life did I think you would be banned from anywhere. Didn't know you were gone from Oprano, just thought you were too busy to post on all the boards.

This news about you is making my day. According to KK, I've become a whiner. She's right. Let's kick some ass, Dravyk. We may have more in common than just being banned. :rokk: :rokk:

Dravyk 08-24-2003 12:01 AM

Thanks, Billy! :bjump:

HoneyBlonde, yeah, it would have been pointeless had that been the case, wouldn't it have? :D

Confucy, not the first time I've opened up, spoke my mind, nor gotten into a rip roaring piss. Plenty of history there across many boards over many years. Plenty of history of me getting along with folks too on boards and elsewhere. Just the normal mix.

Mike has always been a shit-stirrer. No problem. There are appealing things about that when done in moderation. I prefer getting along with folks. It's easier, it's less stressful, it's more productive. If anyone thinks that's a weakness, they are dead wrong and fucking stupid too. And I pretty much put them in place quickly.

Plus, not everything happens on the boards. I've had some nice, um, "conversations" off the boards in email, ICQ and even phone lately. :-) Anyone who knows me knows I'm not afraid of saying anything *directly* to anyone if I have need for it. Some folks can only post on boards then be wusses when you hit them up directly. (And no, Mike and Serge are not wusses there'. Nor am I.)

One of the things Mike and I do see eye to eye on is loathing keyboard warriors, those who can say something on a board, then show themselves as the wimps they are when it's direct.

Confucy, I will kick some ass in public ... when I feel that is the best way for me to get my message across. And I'll be nice publicly or kick ass privately or be nice privately ... all on a case-by-case basis, all just as I have always done. So, in that sense, nothing has changed. Just maybe a few people's misguided perceptions, and I'm sure some of those haven't changed either. But then that's their problem, so I really don't give a damn. :)
