I have their French Roast unopened. I love the fact that they give the "acidity factor" on their coffees.

I drink coffee the way I used to drink ... other things. From the time I get up until the time I go to bed, I have a cup of coffee in front of me.

While the Gevalia regular coffees are good, I don't think they are good enough to warrant the prices they charge. Millstone's Breakfast Blend is almost as good; not sure if I've tried the Greco, and I'm with your husband on the Mocha Kaffe.

The only thing I get from Gevalia currently is the seasonal package, which ships two pounds of a different nationality 4 (maybe 5) times a year.

Our daily coffee is usually Millstone (Foglifter or Columbian, with French Roast and Bed & Breakfast for variety), which we buy in 5-pound bags a 4-5 times a year (not really saving any money on coffee, but I'm not going to the store for coffee every week-10 days, so the $30 worth of coffee doesn't become $80 worth of "stuff"). At the same time I usually order 8-10 pounds of Starbucks.

I also pick up the "house" blends from a couple of coffee houses whenever I'm visiting my daughters, and haven't been to a Dunkin Donuts in five years without picking up a couple of bags of their whole-bean coffee.

We go through a coffee pot in 6-9 months; the freebies from Gevalia generally only last 6 months around here. This last time I bought two - a 12 cup for daytime use, and an 8-cup I switch to after supper.

PD...oh, I agree. The Gevalia coffee prices are outrageously high. However, my husband and I are very ritualistic people. We love having "special" things. Since we're both coffee drinkers, having the Gevalia Breakfast Blend reserved for weekend mornings is nice. When I have coffee during the day while I'm alone, it's quite possibly because I have a headache or feel terrible. (Coffee truly helps my headaches.) Therefore, the "just mine" aspect of the Mocha is nice. (I'm a kind person, so I wash the pot and basket of the coffeemaker before my husband has coffee.) He has a miserable "about me" paper to write for his upcoming Religion class, so a cup of the Italian Greco coffee was *most* appreciated last night. It also rather backfired. It made him feel so good he went and watched a movie rather than work on that paper.

And back on track....

I have not had any form of booze in 1 yr 1 month and 30 days.
Or 425 days if you prefer.

The reason being I REALLY like it :)

I don't think you're going to make a lot of friends with that remark, sarettah. Personally, I think mixing anything with coke is a waste of good liquor, but I know a lot of men that do it.

Proud of you, Nick! :clapping:

You may have liked booze, but I don't think it liked you very much.

You mean girlie boys :okthumb:

And I know many women that would not touch a girly drink

Now if you will excuse me, I am in mourning :(

Yeah, thanx a lot. My Seagrams stock, which I bought 425 days ago because of it's consistent upward trend since 1994 took a nose dive 424 dyas ago and still hasn't recovered

You have my deepest condolences. :(

Anyhoo....

I think of "girlie drinks" as being more along the line of Grasshoppers and Brandy Alexanders. (Apologies to the men that drink them. They're downright tasty. A tad *too* tasty, if you know what I mean.)

The only "mixed drink" I ever have is the occasional Marguerita. I love those things. Went to dinner with Nick and his family once and had a Marguerita big enough to take a bath in. Luscious. (Red Lion talked me out of bitch slapping the hell out of someone at the table who wasn't him or Nick, or most certainly not a member of Nick's family. I do tend to get...oh, we'll go with "lowered inhibitions"...from those things.

QB used to buy me pink margueritas that I *loved.*

For one, I know that's so difficult to do. :okthumb:

Well, the cactus it was made out of was pink. It was "special." Unfortunately, memory fails as to what exactly was it it. For a very good reason....

I don't think Rum and Coke is a girly drink.

Capt Morgans with Coke is a girly drink.

Capt Morgans is flavored, which makes it somewhat girly to begin with. Adding coke to it merely increases the estrogen level.

I tryed Cap'n Morgan's. Agreed, tooooooo sweet. :(

Gotta stick with Bicardi! :okthumb:

Myers is an allegedly more "top-shelf" rum, so they say. Hate the crap. Tastes like 1/2 Bicardi and 1/2 turpentine to me.

If I needed a rum buzz, I'd pop for the "151".

Used to drink a good bit

Now not so much but

Scotch (on the rocks please, no need for anything else)
Saki
A good amber

From years of smoking and drinking espresso I need something with a strong taste

PornoDoggy 11-07-2005 12:38 AM

Re: i think ill have a drink

Oddly enough, Meyers is about the only Rum I drank straight.

I pretty much treated drinks the same way I did beer - after the third or fourth, if it's mixed the well/bar booze is going to taste as good as call drinks. Shots were a different story, of course.

Scotch :barfon: - I'd rather drink Listerine.

I used to get Gevalia all the time, but I agree with PD that Millstone is very nice without Gevalia's high cost. I do love my Gevalia coffee maker though.

Good to hear. :okthumb: The "bottom line" aspect of my husband's brain caused "it sure would be nice to have a coffee maker waiting in the wings."

It seems that every coffee maker we've ever had picked a weekday morning to die. There is *nothing* worse than having that ache for the first cup of the day and discovering that the coffee maker is broken.

My Gevalia coffee makers have lasted between 3 - 6 months each.
