Your point about NFL vs Football hooliganism is very valid.

When I was in NO for IA2000, on the Sat night, there was one or more shootings as a result of rival fans clashing after a college football game. So, I'm not sure trouble is exclusive to footie. It'd be nice if there wasn't any.

The NFL is franchise based & teams move around, so as such it's probaly hard to get all tribal about it, except for some face-painting & costume-wearing. Footie has for some reason always been urban based and rivalries are a big part of it.

My team as everyone know is Sunderland AFC, my best friend is a Newcastle supporter... last season was ok as our teams where in different leagues so they never played each other... but we'll have 2 massive arguments and kick the shit out of each other this year... as will 1000's of other people in every bar throughout the North East... we're very passionate about our football up here B)

Oh and after the fights we’ll be mates again and buy each other a beer and comment on the best punches thrown :)

I't because they play teams like Panama and the footballing powerhouse that is Hati. They qualify for every worldcup so their ranking are very high.

The Worldcup is a fucked up comp anyway.. It should be the best 32 teams in the world. none of this regional crap like Saudi Arabia.
